How one middle school teacher uses The Sims 3 (iphone) for learning
Where was all this technology when I was a little kid. The only excitement and entertainment we had back in school was when the others were making fun of me due to my stupid actions! Now, kids have it easier these days, they can just watch YouTube or play games :P
Speaking of games, I did play ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego” and a few other old gems, but you can’t beat playing The Sims 3! Craig Lawson, a teacher at at Cape Fear Middle School uses iPod Touches to teach students responsibilities and other important factors of life.
“A lot of times you see negative publicity for video games, that they promote violence and that kind of thing, but that misses their connection to literature,” Lawson said. “This is a way for students to gain insight into the experience of another person without having to live it themselves, just like we do when we read a book.”
