The Sims 3 Game Patch 1.7/2.2
The official Sims 3 site is prepping a new patch to fix the dreaded ‘Error 16′ problem many are having. The only bit of information regarding the patch states the following:
Fix for save file incompatibilities that result in the Error Code 16 error message while saving.
As for the other issues that are caused with this patch, you may have to wait a little longer so The Sims team can troubleshoot them some more.

If you have the Digital Download I do not have a link to your patch. If you updated your game thru the launcher, please post your full version number for the Digital Download in the comments – either 1.6.6 or 1.7.9 will be fine – I need the full version though!
The 1.5/1.6 and 1.7/2.2 patches will also be uploaded to the site….I’m going to say this weekend. If anyone knows where I can get the digital download patch, please drop a comment below!

I have not installed the previous patch that was released a few days ago yet, and the only patch that is installed from months ago, was1.4.6.00001. When I opened the launcher and it asked me to install the new patch, but it did not mention which patch it was. Should I wait until the new patch to be released? Which one should I install? 1.5. or 1.6? 1.5. has errors, so 1.6 is the new one which will be released soon. Or should I install both patches too? Thanks.

1.5/1.6 are both together – they are the ones causing the most issues. 1.7 should be made available soon, and that should correct the main problem with 1.6. So I’d probably wait around a bit and keep an eye out either here, another Sims fansite or even the official forums for when 1.7 is available to download. Read their issues with the new patch and determine for yourself if you should upgrade

I’m not really sure what 3 and 5 are to be honest…I’ve been asking that myself. However, 107 is the digital download patch if it existed for these new ones.

Any MAC player out there? I haven’t been able to download and install the patch on my MAC yet. I don’t know if it’s me or it’s a common issue…I’m starting to get mad at this update.

Remove any mods you have. Also, this might be caused due to any modifications you made to the Resource.cfg file or any of the games .ini file. ‘TheSidDog’ had this problem last night installing the patch and it was his camera.ini file that was causing this as he made edits to it beforehand.
You may want to copy and replace the original files from the cd to your game’s folder to allow a sucessful installation.

There aren’t any mods. A few days ago when WA came out, the installation of that new patch and the expansion was succesfull and clean, but now, with this patch there’s that “invalid file” error :/

Quick question, if you currently have World Adventures and you are patching the 2.0.86.002001 version…would you use the above patches (which say for the 1.6 version) or is there a different patch to get to vers. 2.2??

Good question, Rick. I’m in the process of trying to find out the different patch versions that those who had World Adventures installed. I think the only true patch for WA right now is the 2.2.
If you download it, could you please let me know what game version build you have after the patch?

It looks like everyone who has updated their WA game is going to version 2.2.8, if that’s any help!
I’m not using the EADM, so I haven’t downloaded anything…Launcher says game is “up to date”!? :-P

:’(! My Sims 3 game has stopped working and i am soooooo sad! It say something like “Unable to start game, Device 0 cannot run this title. Your video card must be set to aplication-control anitlizing. Please check your video card settings.” It was working FINE before the patch! HELP ME!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

…and just to further update…it looks like fully patched, World Adventures goes to version 2.2.8.002001 (here in the U.S)! On the official site, the SimGurus have been saying to patch up to 1.5/1.6, then install WA, then patch to 1.7 (which I would presume would take you to 2.2)…most confusing!

Mine is telling me I need file sims3_2.2.8.002001_from_2.0.86.0021.exe
They are making this super confusing for the user with this 1.6/2.2 crap. I can’t even use the launcher to auto-detect & install because every time it tells me I don’t have enough disk space (which is completely false, I have 60 GIGABYTES free!)

Yes, it’s a bit confusing in some ways. So, 2.2 is the first or second update for WA? Is there a 2.1 and is the WA 2.0? At least the non-confusing factor is that 1.0+ is for base game and 2.0+ is for WA, thus 3.0+ will be for EP2, and so on. I think we need to focus on just the first two numbers, as in 1.1, 1.2, etc., to make it less confusing because there will never be two or more 1.1′s. 1. = base game and .1 = patch/update version.

I have a Mac as well and my game hasn’t been able to download any of the updates and says that it is the newest update but when I try to download my WA it says the game is incompatible…any thoughts?

Yes…it’s quite frustrating! There wasn’t any officially released 2.1 patch, from what I gather from several different forums…many people who installed WA had their game automatically patch (thru the launcher) to 2.1! Yet, many others have the 2.0 version! No idea what the difference between 2.1 and 2.0 is as there is no information on 2.1 (that I can find)! Also, to further confuse things- many Simmers say that when their WA game patched automatically, it would patch twice…WA updated to 2.1 and the base to 1.6! This also happened with the most recent patch…several reports of WA automatically updating to 2.2 and base to 1.7!

Actually I believe mine updated about two or three times after WA. Because my current version is 2.2. So that’s about right because it updated to 2.1 and then to 2.2. So I guess there were two updates for WA. Jeez, why not list each separately?

Why not, indeed! It would certainly make things simpler…especially for those of us who have legit games, but don’t use the launcher to play and don’t want the EADM! I’m hoping Judhudson can find a direct link to the 2.0 to 2.2 patch (like the one Lisa 522 mentions)! Then, I’m wondering if we’ll have to update WA and the base game separately!??

I’m currently uploading the patches to the site, hope I can get them up by this weekend. If someone could, can you please screengrab the installer for the World Adventures 2.2.8 Patch? I won’t be able to grab a screen until I get my game next week.

I’ve had -5006, -5009 and -5011 errors while trying to patch and/or install WA so I did a reinstall. That new install wouldn’t patch up on its own, your site has been a huge help in finding the patches I needed, thank you!!

I’ve downloaded the 1.7.9.002001 patch. It worked fine–for about an hour, then I had another crash and when I tried to restart the game I got this error message: “A SERIOUS ERROR HAS OCURRED WHILE LOADING SUNSET VALLEY WORLD IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU RESTART APPLICATION.”
I restarted it, and nothing, just keeps giving the same error message. Also on my windows task bar I get this message: “TS3.exe corrupt file the file for directory c:/users/ejay/documets/electonicarts/current game. sims 3 is corrupt and unreadable. please run the chkdsk utility. I’m trying to figure out if it’s my computer or the patch, because when I uninstall it and reinstall I don’t get that error, and can play the game, but I do have problems launching the game. Sorry to be so long winded, but I could really use the help.

I installed the 1.7 patch the other, but my game is still as slow as hell. Loading takes like 10 min, really it does. And when it’s loaded it aint fun playing the game cause it’s too slow.

my sims wont start after i downloaded 1.7.9. it goes black and nothing happens
i had to uninstall my game and reinstall it with no updates, but then i tried to update again and now it wont work again!

after i downloaded 1.7.9, i pretty much can’t play the game anymore.. it literally takes 10 minutes or so to load, and when it finishes loading, it is SLOW AS HELL. I even tried turning all the details to the lowest possible, and it runs the same as if they were turned all the way up. blehhhh…. I even tried running it without the custom content, even removing all of it.

i have a problem well i got sims 3 when it first came out so i have not update it and on my laptop i have launcher icon then i have sims 3 i always click sims3 to play but everytime i click launcher it doesnt do anything but load and then go back to the main screen but im trying to update my sims to the latest verison but i dont know how and i have the legit game disc can some one plese HELP AND GO BY STEP BY STEP THANKZ GUYS!
