For Those of You Unable to Install Store Content…
Over in the official forums, there have been numerous complaints about Simmers unable to install Store content to the point of the download status showing as a red circle slash and/or refusing to show the actual download in the queue. I, too, was one who was unable to install my Store CC. And this was after installing the latest patch (which I DO NOT recommend to do at the moment; just untick the “auto updates” box in the launcher to avoid any updates). So, several people with Windows 7 and Vista (not sure about XP or Mac) posted a very good workaround for the time being until EA (hopefully) fixes this issue. Right-click on the game application icon (shortcut or the original). I would do this with the launcher, not the actual game. Then select properties from the right-click menu and a window will pop up. Then select the compatibility tab and tick the box next to “Run this program as an administrator.” Apply the changes and exit. Do this with the EA Download Manager as well. Now when you run the launcher, it will obviously go through the UAC process and what have you. Accept it to open the launcher. The next time you install Store CC, it should work, as reported by some people. However, for others, it still didn’t work, such as myself. So, what I did was completely wiped the game out of my system and then reinstall it all back WITHOUT installing the latest patch, only the ones before that. Then I did the above process. That finally worked! Regardless, this process is quite a pain and it’s not even a guarantee. But it doesn’t hurt to try. I still did not install the latest patch, though, since I would rather wait for a fix. So who knows if that is why it worked for me. This is beyond ridiculous, but what can we do? Good luck for those of you who try this! Let me know if it worked for you! I do not take credit for this workaround, but I do not know who originally posted it since there were a few people suggesting it.

Honestly? I gave up on this game. It became boresome and annoying after all those patches. It’s not the fact that they have so many of them, actually. It’s the fact that they don’t seem to do any good and keep making me avoiding playing every time.
I’m still reading news just to see if someday I can feel tempted again. But for all I know. I’m over.
Positive side of the story? I won’t be spending my money with broken expasion packs!
I only wish your voice was loud enough for EA to learn their lesson. It would surely help. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. Too many people will still buy Sims to make change.
Not work on my windows 7 x64 ultimate Edition. Two last patchs broken my game.
Thanks Frankie
I have Windows 7 Home Premium. What i did was go to My Computer and use the search bar in the window and typed Sims. I deleted everything Sims-related other than browser bookmarks, CC stored in the hard drive, etc. But i mean files related to the actual installation, including patch files that were in my system, are what i deleted to wipe the actual installation out of my system. I am not sure if this is why it worked for me, but it worked somehow. And you have to know what you’re doing, so this is not very user-friendly. Regardless, it’s not very nice of EA to release broken patches when patches are meant to repair, not to break or worsen.
See? That’s what I meant!
We have to find work arounds to make this game work. It should be simple: you buy it, install it and play. Fun, fun, fun and kaching for the company.
Now we have kaching for the company. Period.
Even though TS2 had lots of bugs in its ex. packs, I always knew there were a market for the TS3 that would eventually come. Seriously, I don’t think they will be successful releasing a fourth in the series now.
Unless we are blessed with a new alternative by another company that provides better support and customer service. Honestly, as much as I love the Sims games, I’d be willing to settle for another game that is its competion where you can do pretty much similar things but better. That will be the only way to force EA to shape up. They are ruining this franchise with their carelessness. Do they not realize that they can make even more money with better support? Do they not want more customers?
