Serious CAW Issue Still Not Fixed
First of all, I want to apologize for not posting about this issue, since it’s been over a month now. Apparently (and I just discovered this today) there is a very serious bug with the latest patch and with Ambitions installed in relation to CAW (Create-A-World). CAW now won’t start. I captured a screen shot of my desktop with an example down below. This issue was discovered around early June as far as I have noticed. CAW simply won’t load and it gives you an error message as evident from the screen shot below, but your game still should function as normally (other than the bugs that came with the EP). This may not seem like an issue for non-CAW users but for those of you who want to download new worlds, you may have to wait a while before they appear, unless the creator uses CAW without the latest patch and/or Ambitions. I’ve noticed that this issue is causing an uproar, and that is also why I wanted to bring it to the attention of those who weren’t aware. I was finally going to create my first official world earlier today until I discovered the error. It is very frustrating but we just have to wait until EA fixes the issue.

Thank you for finally posting about this! This CAW issue is very frustrating. I think this is due because EA hadn’t done anything about the compatibility to CAW for Ambitions in the patch. Shouldn’t they known that this would certainly be the case if you did anything to the base game?

Wow we are totally twins – I just went to make a world today for the first time since it was first released and found out about this issue today, so it’s a little freaky when I read you did the same… LOL. Let’s hope they get it fixed soon!!!

I agree. While Create-A-Pattern may seem cool, I’d much rather have had a fix for CAW first. Go figure, when I finally wanted to create a town for the first time and now I can’t. I actually feel badly for those who had just finished their world and that all they had needed to do was put it into a file for their game. Apparently, that’s happened already to several people.
And yes, NZsThumbelinda, it was kind of strange how we both discovered this error by loading CAW on the same day. :)

I Have been pissed by this since AMB came out because Gates Cove by project that i have put at least 60 hours+ in and when all the stuff about AMB was coming out, I don’t care about the crap town twinbrook with it old boring backstory and i’ll hope EA wakes up one day with the community stabbing it in the back. When Will EA learn, in 2008 EA fired two of the most important people in gaming, they destroyed maxis which was the greatest company on earth and then fired Will Wright, the visionary behind EA biggest selling franchise selling over 100+ copies and has been around for 10 year EA WAKE UP!. Also what worries me is that they aren’t very profitable. Where is they money going I tell you where it’;s going down the gay love couple of John Rotitello and Rod Humble. Sims w2as awesome when the women before rod was in charge and the second she got promoted Sims got Securom and EA got the idea that testing doesn’t matter and BV happened. BTW Create a Pattern is a good idea but caw is more used and people love. Just my my rant, Also Jud did you get my email about SquareSpace

Lol, little late? I wish EA would just fix it already!!! This is INSANE, people have reported from nearly the first day that Ambitions was out that CAW isn’t working, there is no excuse for taking this long, I don’t believe that it’s a “serious” bug, it’s only that EA didn’t update CAW to be compatible! This sort of thing could of been taken care of in a week max.

Chris, I edited the wallpaper myself in Photoshop but the original came with Windows 7, only that it was green with blue hues, etc. If you have Windows 7, then you may have it. I just wanted to make a dark and eerie version of it. Thank you for the compliment. :)
Robodi, I have no idea how serious or non-serious this is, but I still thought that “serious” was fine enough because, well, as you said, EA should have fixed this long ago and it’s affected many creators. Funny how I was going to put compatibility as the reason in the post but I deleted it. I figured that that was what it was. Silly EA.
I’m about to check out the new patch, so we shall see what’s in store for us!

@Frankie (July 7th post) That’s exactly what happened to me! I almost finished my L.A. neighborhood, then I installed Ambitions and now I can’t play on that world… Its SO frustrating, we pay lots of money on base game and expansion packs, we are treaten in a definitely not professional way. I mean, I am a The Sims fan since the first chapter came out, and I don’t rememeber having so many problems on The Sims 1 and The Sims 2.
I think they should realize that the matter is not just making a good game, but also help your CLIENTS and try to keep everything updated properly.
The Sims 3 (with all the expansion packs) is probably the most expensive game on earth, don’t we deserve a better treatment?
