@Ralynne, I had this problem too but now it is fixed. You just need to uninstall your ea downloader, reboot your machine, and install the newest version of ea downloader, then it should work. However I’m still having problem in patching my sim3 ambitions to 4.2.32, it always give me ‘invalid file found’.

I had a similar problem, once I updated to the 1.14, everything essentially failed. I’ve re-installed I don’t know how many times, but I think it definitely has to do with the latest patch. Turning off automatic updates and going up to version 1.12 seems to work for me.

Don’t go through the EA download manager, as that automatically takes you to 1.14. Instead, if you update incrementally, things should work out, and it allows you to stop your version wherever you need it. It’s a shame that EA doesn’t offer a version rollback or something like most device drivers do.

I had that problem too Ralynne. I have reinstalled the game and not done any updates and it runs. I’m not going to update it again until this problem is solved. You can go into your sims folder in your document and save your mods and saves folder elsewhere to keep your data. If you don’t want to do that maybe you can wait for a fix.

Does anyone have a link to the last update/ other updates? I’d like to upgrade my game to where it was without this patch.

Hi…well I’ve tried everything that I’ve read here to do, including downloading the patch and trying to do the update manually. My game launcher returns an error that an error occured and to consult the log for more information, click okay and the entire thing closes. This happens everytime that i try to open it. The update failed miserably and it reads version 0.0.0.0

I’m thinking I may have to uninstall the entire thing yet again, (happens with every single game patch I get it seems) and do it all over again…. I’m not happy guys…can someone offer some sort of workable fix for this ongoing issue???

Invalid File Error usually means that one of the game’s core files was overwritten by either being edited or by an installed mod. If you know that you edited a gameplay file, pop in the original base game cd and copy the original file over the edited file. If it is a mod you do not know, copy all of your saved sims and saved games out of your folder, uninstall the game, delete any mods, re-install, and try updating it again

guys!! need help here… i dont know what’s wrong with my sims 3 .. i’ve succesfully installed this patch manually for hels & the base game… and the problem is ambitions, there was an invalid file error when i’m installing the ambitions patch…therefore, i cant play sims 3 because ambition vrsion is imcompatible with this new one.. so, i decided to uninstall base game in order to remove the patch, then i reinstall, then i think i should apply the previous patch not this one, so, do you think this is right thing to do??!!

Yes. You can do that by either Add/Remove Programs (XP) or in the Programs and Features section of the Control Panel in Vista or Windows 7
