GameSpot – The Sims 3 Late Night hands-on (3 new screens)
iSims & InfiniteSims spotted a new preview that surfaced earlier today regarding The Sims 3 Late Night that includes 3 brand new screenshots from the game. Not only that but the preview again confirms our darkest fears: Vampires have to farking ask before they bite. Now whose idea was that! Well, at least the preview is packed – too bad they also had to tell us the bad news
As mentioned, Late Night will also let you play as a vampire, and as Rodiek explains, “they won’t get all sparkly, like in Twilight–they’ll have more of a soft glow.” The producer described vampire sims as being “badass” and “powerful”–primarily because although they can’t survive during the day, they thrive at night with enhanced motives (The Sims’ version of personal needs) that require very little maintenance.
Here’s a bit more:
In addition to all the clubbin’ and vampirin’, Late Night will add more customization and building options to play with, including expensive new penthouse apartments that have limited size, but can be tricked out with the absolute latest in high-end swank, such as a gigantic digital fishtank that hangs on the wall, and a returning Sims favorite, the hot tub, which can seat up to four characters. In addition, you can expect to see plenty of new clothing sets and character customization that befit the social elite (and all those poseur wannabes), like draw-on muscle T-shirts, and new, more-muscular body types for those who prefer to play as a spray-tanned muscle man. When we asked the producer whether the new body types had anything to do with the popularity of MTV’s Jersey Shore, Rodiek replied, “we here [on the Sims development team] are all about The Situation.” And oh yes, Late Night will add a much-requested breast adjustment tool for those who absolutely must increase their bust. So, yes…there’s that.
Late Night appears to be a return to the classic open-ended Sims gameplay of schmoozing, building, and designing. The expansion will ship next month.

Don’t worry Jud, a mod expert will most likely change that bite feature…

Wow, looks awesome! Am i the only one excited about this pack? & J is right, mods will DEFF change this by 2 weeks my guess. I hope so!

He he, I’m pretty excited about it too!

I do wonder if we can ‘wohoo’ with a bouncer or a director or something to get a job/get in the club! Would be an odd but REAL/fun feature! (:

^ OMG that would be awesome, my slutty socialite could then sleep her way to the top. ;P

i didn’t remember hearing about an air hockey table before. you’re right about the ask before bite Jud. should have been like it was in TS2:NL

They do that because not everyone wants to be forced to play with vampires. Not everyone wants their Sims bitten randomly, since it would ruin their gameplay. It’s actually a fair deal, if you ask me. It’s nothing that a mod can’t fix. But I can see how perhaps removing a vampire club and/or object could remove vampires altogether. That could be another possibility.

Amazing! I love this vampires. I wonder why there’s no singers for the band…

The EP will not include a mic, that’s why. It’s a shame because many bands are incomplete without a singer. :(

I’m still waiting to see what the arcade games look like. They’ve been mentioned loads of times already and yet there has never been a screenshot of one.

The arcade games are apparently just a port of the ones in Sims 2. According to Gamescon attendees.

@doodlesam so basically it’s the same code just modified to work in the sims 3 engine and with better graphics? probably act like the console games for our sims. just multiple game play vids running in a infinite loop forever and ever.

Makes you wonder why arcade games weren’t in the base game from the very start really seeing as it sounds like they just ported them over from TS2.

@ uknortherner Money! Mix and Match past features that are in high demand to return with less popular ones, thus people look forward to the next EP or SP for the lost features to return. EA knows this works. Now in my opinion, if years ago Will Wright would have sold out to Take Two instead of EA The Sims and Sim City would be more like we want. but we have EA who loves making money. Never know we might get some lost NPCs from the Sims 2 era with that Barnacle Bay.
