Remember this gem?

Once again Jeff Green takes the time to walk us thru EA.  At 3 minutes in, he stops by the Sims floor – a whole floor at EA dedicated to the various Sim games cause they make so much damn money.  Nothing much shown other than a few MySims standup posters.  This has to be a dream job – if only you knew you’re able to keep it!

We know that ‘Edge of Reality‘ may be working on The Sims 3 for PS3 and Xbox 360 but now we have some more information to go by.  SimFans.de spotted listings on ABC Software of The Sims 3 appearing for the Nintendo Wii, DS, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms:

• Nintendo DS listing for The Sims 3
• Nintendo Wii listing for The Sims 3
• PlayStation 3 listing for The Sims 3
• Xbox 360 listing for The Sims 3

All games are marked to be released on October 28, 2010.  No doubt this is a placeholder date and at this time, we cannot confirm it to be true.  However it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see the game make its way onto consoles.  It is a little surprising it hear it’ll be for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms…for the most part many would say those are ‘hardcore’ consoles.  But I’d be happy to see them regardless what they come on!

I don’t understand much of it, but I think The French Sims Team is trying to get their point across about ways not to spread the Swine Flu virus.  Thanks to SimsDomination for the find!

I hate the EA Download Manager (EADM).  You hate the EADM.  We all hate the EADM!  Hell, even EA hates their own Download Manager.  I suppose that’s why they are in the process of rolling out something…better – according to EA.com editor Jeff Green that is!  Check out this latest question from his Mailbag that speaks of what is in store:

Dear Jeff,
Why does The Sims 3 require me to install the EA Download Manager application in order to patch the game? Most (actually, all) games that I’ve installed can patch up quite happily without an extra application running in the background. I would like to update The Sims 3 but frankly I don’t trust anything that calls itself a “download manager”, and I don’t trust that it won’t opt me into marketing research. Why can’t the game update itself? Fondest regards,

Well, I can assure you, Sean, that the EA Download Manager won’t opt you into market research. It will, however, collect all the personal data off your computer-including credit card information and jpegs-for us to mess around with. You should see the cool stuff I’ve bought off Amazon lately thanks to the dumbasses who installed our malware!  OH I’M JUST KIDDING, PEOPLE.  Frankly, I have to agree with you, in general, in that I don’t like having yet another installer on my machine.  And guess what? EA does, too, to some extent.  I’ve currently running a beta of…a different idea…that EA is planning to implement, and it’s going to go a long way towards addressing the stuff you’re talking about. Stay tuned.

So could this be an update to the EA Download Manager?  Perhaps a whole new service?  I hope so, because for one the DM is a clunky application, a pain to deal with for updates and just plain out sucks – especially considering that EA has a time limit in how long you are able to download your digital copies of games from them.  Here’s hoping they’re planning something similiar to Steam – or even better, use Valve’s software.  Who knows what lies ahead..hopefully that whatever it will be they will get it right for a change.

Three cheers for the original ‘The Sims’ game – they’ve made it on the list of Forbe’s Most Revolutionary Videogames of all time.  Kind of surprised SimCity wasn’t on the list as technically it was the game that started it all…but I suppose the fact that the ‘Sims’ series did reach the 100 million copies sold milestone makes it a pretty big deal.

Nothing much has changed regarding The Sim’s status from this week and the previous week other than both The Sims 3 & World Adventures swapped places.  At least they are still holding on strong, trying to stick by Football Manager and Modern Warfare 2!
