Stepping down & some other notes

*Sticky announcement* I haven’t been participating much in terms of posting news, and there is a reason for that….as I said in some of the previous comments, I’ve pretty much been distancing myself away from Sims/EA. I just don’t find the fun it in anymore, especially since most of the news coming out makes me want to rage and rant. I’ve began to question myself – why bother with the supporting EA when they clearly don’t give a rip about us? (I’m speaking about EA in general, not the SimGuru’s – at least they are somewhat trying to communicate to the fans). Why should I spend be constantly spending money on sub-par products that really don’t interest me that much anymore? Why keep giving EA free press and the only form of communication are takedown notices? I’ve pretty much had enough with the way the company is headed, so I’ve pretty much stopped buying their games and keeping up.
So, with that being said, it gives me two options:
- Close Simprograms and venture on to personal projects.
- Keep Simprograms open, but hand the site over to someone who still enjoys EA/Sim games.
Now, seeing as it’s always been about the fans, and that people still do enjoy reading the site (I’ve read some comments about how it’s dipped in quality and that some folks don’t really care for some of the staff here – and you’re very much right to express your opinion on the matter) it’s probably best to go with the second option. So with that being said, I’m stepping down and handing over the site to Bryce (TheBlackScorpion). He still very much enjoys the franchise, and even though some may argue that I should close it anyways, I think he can do a sufficient job of keeping the site up and going for you guys – providing you care to give him feedback when necessary (just don’t be rude about it, that’s one of my pet peeves).
I’ll still be around – probably drifting in the comments, but as for the Simprograms twitter, he’s pretty much using that now (my personal one is now set up in case you want to follow that) and give the staff a hand when necessary, but I doubt I’ll be doing much or any posting. If you happen to have any requests or news, please pass it onto the staff members and not me. As much as I loved The Sims in general, I think it’s time to move on. I still love Maxis, and will support them on SimCity 5 – but more than likely I’ll be doing that by being an ‘average fan’ and not a webmaster.

Talk about an awesome company! I don’t tend to get a hold of gaming companies to check in about giving away items, so it was a huge shock when I heard from MadCatz over the fact that they wanted to send me three Sims 3 Illuminated Mice to give away to our readers. Of course, how could I pass up an opportunity like that? I love giving things away to the readers and it’s not often I get to do it! Congrats EA – you are the worst company in America for 2012

I’ve been watching this contest since Day 1, hoping EA would take home the golden prize, and guess what? They did just that! Congratulations, EA – you were voted as the Worst Company in America for 2012 by The Consumerist! It had quiet a challenge too. Paypal, Bank of America, AT&T, Comcast…While all of those have perfectly good reasons on why they should be the worst company in America, the gamers united and gave this worth title to Electronic Arts. While most Americans know the other companies are complete crap, I hope this will be publicized amongst many sites and uncover EA’s tactics when it comes to screwing over it’s consumers.
Anyhow, enough ranting – check it out for yourself! I can’t wait to hear John Riccitiello’s acceptance speech!
Ponies, ponies everywhere

Time for a random post.
So I shared the following with pretty much all of my social media, guess I should do it here as well! I’m into the craze that is known as My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic. I don’t know how I managed to get sucked into it, I can’t remember. It was last year though. I gave the show a watch, and was instantly hooked. Little did I know when I started researching it that it was by the same lady (Laura Faust) that created some of my favorite cartoons as a kid – Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Laboratory (well, her husband worked on that, but I think she did have a role), Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls… It all seemed so…familiar.
Anyhow, Bronies are what the adult fans of the show are called – the nickname dubbed for both sexes (although some of the ladies go by Pegasisters). Many Bronies get hated on for liking a show that it’s original target was for kids, but the second season has shown a ton of hidden references for the adult viewers. I mean, what kid is going to spot the Big Lebowski ponies? LOL.
One of my personal friends is an artist in which she does amazing puppet/plush work, so I had commissioned her to create me a set of the mane 6 (I actually have a lot more ponies commissioned, but all in due time). I met up with her this past weekend to get them, and all I could say was WOW!

Of course, the fine folks on my DeviantArt page always have something to say, and let me know that AppleJack is only suppose to have 1 ponytail, but I don’t give a single care in the world, to me she’s perfect. :D I had to build a whole ‘nother shelf in my room cause these things are huge! LOL.

Now I get to hunt down a hat for AppleJack (as she was short on time and wasn’t able to make one – which I’m perfectly okay with). Any recommendations would be nice (I guess I could go to the Build-A-Bear workshop and see if they have any cowboy hats that size…
