Hobbies & Professions News

I know that Jud already posted about the “Bart Smit” Dutch retailer saying it was on a list of games (originally from www.simsplanet2.com) but there was one fact that was left out of the post that I found interesting, according to the site, they were asked to edit the post by Electronic Arts, which in my opinion, increases the likelihood of this pack being real.

Also on the comments section of another post, “Dan d” confessed to photoshopping the cover and then blurring it.  He gave the link to the full photo, so here it is: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/9536/spellbound.jpg

RUMOR – The Sims 3 Hobbies & Professions Cover CONFIRMED FAKE (**COVER ONLY**)

I found this under the comments section of another post, thank you for posting the link “lolifofo”.  It is still just a rumor and could be photoshopped.  In my opinion it is a fake considering that most, if not all (haven’t played with the misc. section lately) of the things on the cover can already be found in the game.  Please comment with your thoughts and comments.  Here it is:

***NOTE: This is fan made cover art, thanks for pointing that out “Connor Jack”***

Sims 3 Hidden Traits

This item was filled under [ News - The Sims 3 ]

While I was looking through the mods section of modthesims.info I stumbled across a mod titled “Hidden Traits Unlocked”.  I decided to take a look at it and download it into my game.  As it turned out, there are a dozen traits that are built in to the game but are not available in CAS.  This mod unlocks those traits and makes them available in CAS.  The traits and how to get them are as follows:

Note: every trait is inherited by the resulting child

Physical:

  1. Pyromaniac – Having a child with a firefighter
  2. Immune to Fire – Having a child with a firefighter (my guess, and this is just a guess to how to get one over the other is the gender of the firefighter)
  3. Makes No Messes - Having a child with a maid
  4. Mummy – Having a child with a mummy

Mental:

  1. Burglar – Having a child with a burglar
  2. Can Apprehend Burglar – Having a child with a cop
  3. Can Salute – Having a child with a Military Sim
  4. Pizza Appreciator – Having a child with a Pizza Delivery Sim
  5. Rocker – Having a child with a Rockstar
  6. Asian Culture – Having a child with a sim from the China destination in WA
  7. Egyptian Culture – Having a child with a sim from the Egypt destination in WA
  8. French Culture – Having a child with a sim from the France destination in WA

If you would like to download the mod, it is located here.  There is also a free public login for modthesims.info located here at the top of the page (its the first login).  You will also need an package installer tool, I highly recommend the one located here.  Enjoy!

Sorry that I haven’t been making new episodes for the podcast recently, but my PC got messed up when I installed Windows 7.  I am currently in the process of getting my speakers repaired, preparing my PC so I can send Windows 7 back, and preparing my PC to sell it and buy an HPE-150T.  Once I get my technical issues sorted out, I’ll being making new episodes, until then just keep up on the website.  Oh and by the way if any of you are in the Philadelphia area and willing to spend $1000 on a 6-month old PC heres my Craig’s List posting: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/sys/1544115861.html, Thanks!!

SIMS 3 WINS BEST STRATEGY GAME OF THE YEAR!!

This item was filled under [ News - The Sims 3, Sim News ]

Here is the article from GameSpot:

And the winner is…

The Sims 3

GameSpot’s Best Games of 2009 Editors’ Choice WinnerWhile 2009 brought us some fantastic strategy games, it was the one that simulates the intricacies of everyday life that won the hearts of our editors. The Sims 3 takes the gameplay established in the previous two games and expands on it in new and exciting ways, resulting in a rich experience with a lot more depth. And like in previous games, in The Sims 3 you’re free to live your virtual life however you see fit. Whether that means getting married and having kids or becoming a popular movie star, the real strategy comes into play in achieving whatever goals you’ve set for your virtual self using the game’s enhanced lifetime wish system.

While much of what we’ve described could also be applied to previous games in the series, The Sims 3 builds upon this basic foundation to deliver the deepest and most rewarding Sims game yet. For example, your house no longer resides in a virtual vacuum and instead is part of an entire ecosystem, where neighboring sims grow and age alongside you. Small touches such as this lend a greater aura of believability to the Sims universe, making it all the easier to lose yourself in it.

You know a game is special when the mundane tasks of everyday life, such as searching for a job, shopping for furniture, or trying to save enough money to buy a house, are turned into a compelling gameplay experience that will leave you wanting more.

Just in time for Christmas! :-) :-)
