Milestones: I interviewed Will Wright once, on facebook. Well that's it. Oh and I was about to quit the community (for obvious reasons) then SimCity 5 was announced.

JeuxVideo – MySims SkyHeroes reviewed

InfiniteSims spotted a new review of MySims SkyHeroes from french gaming site JeuxVideo.  A Google translated snippet is available below for your reading.

Apart from the missions, one of your favorite places will necessarily shed. Here you can change your Sims or your plane as you wish, and even before the start of the adventure. Of course, as and when the story mode, you unlock new customization features for your cuckoo, whether for the wings, the engine or the body of the device. Far from being aesthetic, these improvements can also have an impact on your features, increasing your speed or your strength. You can save several aircraft which is a good thing, the absence of such options that can decimate a sibling. Moreover, a multiplayer mode is also available for parties to many. If it is possible to play only two locally, it is not less than ten players who can put it online full cockpit! Large solitary can always make quick solo parts where almost all options are customizable, weapons allowed the number of turns. In the end, MySims SkyHeroes could be good entertainment if its gameplay was not that redundant solo. Fortunately, the parties in multi arouse enough interest to keep some players on their toes not to mention the many opportunities for customization of the aircraft. A title that will appeal probably sympathetic to younger, perhaps less jaded than average.

GamingXP – MySims SkyHeroes Review

German site, GamingXP took the time to extensively review the recently released, MySims SkyHeroes. Here is the summary translated by Google:

The atmosphere in the game itself is completely successful. The varied levels and the animations make you want more, but the lame story, and above all the countless mostly meaningless dialogue as well as Sim-babble but spoil much of the atmosphere.

All in all, I think that this “MySims” spin-off is ok, but does not reach its predecessors. Although the basic idea of the game is quite entertaining, but the story mode with the lame story, leaving out the possibilities of the Wii and the weak atmosphere cloud the overall impression huge.

CommonSenseMedia – MySims SkyHeroes reviewed

MySims Sky Heroes really soars. Its fast and frenetic gameplay is only enhanced by the colorful and imaginative visuals. The controls are relatively easy to handle, and the storyline is actually quite compelling. The customization system that allows you to build and personalize several vehicles for use in the game is definitely one of the highlights. You can not only customize (and re-customize) the looks of planes, but give each a different set of bonuses and special abilities that will help out in different kinds of missions.

The MySims series has put out several very good games, and Sky Heroes is no exception. It would have been nice if the player had more opportunities to simply fly around and explore the imaginatively-designed island settings, but the multiplayer modes (both co-op and competitive) are definitely a nice addition.

Test Freaks – MySims Skyheroes Review

MySims SkyHeroes also offers two Quick Play modes — Dogfighting and Racing. Dogfighting allows players to challenge foes in dangerous aerial maneuvers like barrel rolls and loops against a cityscape backdrop or a lush tropical paradise, complete with an active volcano. The Racing mode tests a player’s twitch reflexes during high-speed solo or team challenges. Both styles ratchet up the adrenaline when players click into online multiplayer action allowing up to 10 players on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, six on the Wii or four on the Nintendo DS. The game becomes even more riveting by viewing the action in local split-screen format on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, allowing players to team up in co-op play against eight AI opponents, or go head-to-head against each other in competitive play.

Edenstyle – The Sims 3 for consoles previewed

Edenstyle took the time to write down a preview of The Sims 3 for consoles, putting together new stuff added with the game and the differences between the PC and consoles version.

User interface
User interface is a bit different from the one used in the PC version.

While in live mode, on the left you can see a widget with timing, budget and speed options.

Sims’ icons are on the right and you can select the Sim you want to control by pressing Y.

Dialogs appear up on the right and if they are specific to a particular game area (like wishes or careers), you can see area name on the top of the window.

Simology tabs are down on the right.

You can scroll the tabs with LB or RB and open Simology window (for more details) by pressing X. There you have to select the Sim you want to read some info about by pressing LT or RT. With LB and RB you can see the different tabs: relationships, opportunities, career, skills, sim info… Every tab has different options that let you enter more windows with even more details.
