RUMOR – The Sims 3 Spellbound?
Feb 17th

*Confirmed Fake* Thanks for pointing out the flaws and references in the comments!*
I’m tossing this rumor up for discussion. First off – let me be clear, it’s nothing more than a rumor. At the moment, this is one rumor that I’m classifying as FALSE until there is more information about where this image came from. SimsPlanet2 posted the following image but did not give a link of where it came from, which is the main reason why I’m skeptical. Of course there are more but without a source I don’t really care to go on any further.
As far as it stands, we’re still lead to believe that the other rumor – The Sims 3 Hobbies & Professions is true. But whoever created this artwork for “The Sims 3 Spellbound” did a pretty damn good job in my opinion (except for the side of the box)…I for one would love to see this happen but I don’t think we’ll get it anytime soon.
If this is fake, then we should be able to find the sims/images they used to piece this together. I’ll update this post with any new information I have when it is made available.
Mega Rumor: EA to return to the SimCity franchise with ‘SimCity World’?
Feb 8th
Came across an interesting post over at the NeoGAF forums about SimCity. An image has been floating around the internet with a url at the bottom that directs you to simcityworld.com. One user decided to do a domain search only to find out it belongs to EA:
Domain Name………. simcityworld.com
Creation Date…….. 2000-03-07
Registration Date…. 2010-01-28
Expiry Date………. 2011-03-07
Organisation Name…. ELECTRONIC ARTS
Organisation Address. 209 Redwood Shores Parkway
Organisation Address.
Organisation Address. REDWOOD CITY
Organisation Address. 94065
Organisation Address. CA
Organisation Address. UNITED STATES
It appears to have been created 10 years ago, but registered just last month which could possibly mean EA might have something in store for us SimCity fans soon. The picture that surfaced with this information has been posted below. After reading the comments, people believe to have seen it floating around for a long time – even suggesting that it was an architectural drawing for a development in Dubai. No idea what to believe. Could this be the next generation SimCity? The beginnings of their so called Facebook app? I have no clue, so I’m marking this as a ‘rumor’ until more information develops.
Rumor *proven false* – MySims Fast Food
Dec 28th
*UPDATE* This has been proven false, I have fell victim to ExtraSims Holy Innocents Day prank:
MySims Fast Food isn’t true! It was a prank of the Holy Innocents’ Day!
Wikipedia says: In Spain and Hispanic America, December 28 is a day for pranks, equivalent to April Fool’s Day in many countries. Pranks are known as inocentadas and their victims are called inocentes, or alternatively, the pranksters are the “inocentes” and the victims should not be angry at them, since they could not have committed any sin.
Can’t say I enjoy reporting rumors…For some reason I think the following is full of bologna, but time will soon tell the truth. ExtraSims sniffed out the following bit of information about a new MySims game in the work under the title ‘MySims Fast Food‘. As of now, it’s believed to be set to land sometime in February 2010 for the Nintendo Wii and DS. This alone drives me bananas because if that was the case we would have already known about it. That is, it could always be for the WiiWare and DSiWare channel…Which I suppose would be more believable.
Anyways, here’s what ExtraSims has to say about the game (along with a mock-up logo):

- Create your MySim and helps the manager to refloat the fast food business in the city.
- Hire employees, fire them and win star restaurant.
- Combines different explosive ingredients to create burgers that will attract thousands of customers.
- Hunde trap competition and blocking the door, attract rats, and many other fast food follies of MySims.
Will this come true or have we both fell victim to a prank? Hopefully I won’t be caught in a pickle by reporting this.
EA’s possible plan of opening a studio in Georgia?
Dec 18th
Running a business in California is expensive. EA is looking to cut back as much money as they can. By moving some of their staff to another location, they have a chance to save quite a bit of money in the long term. It’s rumored that one of these new locations is Georgia – either Atlanta or Savanah. I have to admit, it’d be pretty cool knowing there is an EA Studio 5 hours away – makes even a better chance for a job possibility as well while being close to home!
EA spokesman Jeff Brown confirmed the company is considering the Peach State, in addition to Louisiana and Florida, as it seeks to relocate work from high-cost areas like California. Texas had also been in contention, but was dropped.
Brown declined to speculate on employment and investment details, the Georgia sites being looked at, or when a decision might be made.
EA, famous for its Madden NFL and Rock Band franchises, develops and publishes interactive software for video game systems, personal computers, cell phones and the Internet.
The company has a large development operation in Orlando, Fla. EA is considering Georgia for a game development and support center that will work on an undisclosed franchise, Brown said.
The center would employ developers, testers, customer service reps and others.
EA “would be a very big boost to the gaming industry in Atlanta,” said Han Reichgelt, dean of Southern Polytechnic State University’s School of Computing and Software Engineering. “It’s one of these things that will get [gaming companies and developers] to look at Atlanta as a possible destination.”
What studios would they move to Georgia? No clue – it’s all rumor at this point until EA goes public on their decision…Too bad Will wasn’t still with Maxis, considering he was originally from Atlanta I’d have to wonder if the thought of moving would of crossed his mind.

Could PETS Be the Next EP?
Dec 17th
Claeric at MTS recently posted a speculation thread about Pets being hinted by EA as the next EP from the holiday Store items. Here is the quoted description:
The Winter holidays are all about family and thinking of others, including our beloved pets. There is no better gift than a Mochi’s Doggie Present for your favorite pooch. This wonderful present is decorated with a lovely bow and a plush “Mochi the Dog” doll embracing the package.
Many comments seem to agree with Claeric and are happy, but it seems as if many more still prefer weather.
So, what do you think? Could this be true, or could it still be a SuperStar remake as hinted in the Brazilian WA fan event, or will it instead be something totally different? I personally think that this is a real hint because of the strong focus on pets when we don’t even have them in our game.
Rumor – 2nd Sims 3 expansion to focus on ‘Superstar’ aspect?
Nov 9th
Not too keen on the following rumor, but I do trust the source as it originates from Mark Joshua from SimVIP. Apparently PlanetSims picked up on the fact that Mark let a little something out about the second expansion for The Sims 3:
During our chat, MM left “escape” a valuable piece of information when he was in California, the game’s developers said they have almost Super Star in The Sims 3, hopefully in the next expansion, imagine the possibility of having stars will Holywood in our game? Let’s wait for the good news, where there’s smoke there’s fire.
Personally, I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet – all in due time.
Thanks to Dimensao Sims and SimOperations for the tip.
Don’t be fooled by ‘The Sims 3 Wild Landscapes’; is fake
Oct 29th
Caught a thread earlier this morning at the official Sims 3 UK board of a post about EA’s second expansion pack which a user “tries” to convince it’s real: The Sims 3 Wild Landscapes. Before it gets way out of hand, it should be noted it’s a completely made up expansion and has no truth to it what-so-ever. While the user was crafty enough to come up with some interesting details that…well for the most part, we’d all like to see…it’s just not possible that EA would release any info about their second expansion project at this time.
Not to mention, many reasons are given why it is confirmed fake:
- I found through a google search the origin of this joke, thru a YouTube comment (see pic)
- The logo is extremely poor, with the first half being covered by the “S” in Sims.
- In general, for upcoming Sim games, EA sends out a listing of the name first to retailers to put in their systems. No information other than that is given. Way too much information and way too early.
- The 1st expansion hasn’t even gone gold yet (any day now, actually)!
If you want a good laugh, check out the original post here…and the “made up” details:

Spore Creature Keeper coming to Nintendo DS?
Aug 30th

Mistake or a leak by ESRB? I’m leaning towards the leak theory – the ESRB rating website loves to leak details on games before they are announced. While we’re familiar that Spore Creature Keeper will be hitting PC in the coming months, it’s a new fact that it’s coming to the Nintendo DS.

Tidbit from the first Sims 3 expansion…
May 16th
O Sim BR is currently attending the Sims 3 Brazilian Fanday event, and they’ve just received word of a tidbit on the first Sims 3 expansion! They spoke to the manager of Marketing for EA and were told that it will have something to do with job occupations and work!
Keep checking O Sim BR for up-to-date information on the Brazilian event!
Will we ever get a true SimCity 5? Shacknews asks Maxis
Jan 27th
Who loves and adore SimCity 4? I do! I wish someday we’d get a true sequel to the game – SimCity Societies, SimCity Creator and SimCity on iPhone just doesn’t cut it. I want a TRUE SimCity 5 with many more features and update graphics. Shacknews agrees, which is why they asked Lucy Bradshaw of Maxis if they plan to go back to their roots:
Shack: I was playing SimCity 4 last night. It’s been a long time. When are we going to see SimCity 5?
Lucy Bradshaw: You know what, honestly, the Sims division owns the SimCity franchise. I did SimCity 4 with the team, and honestly, I love SimCity. It’s my favorite game ever. It’s what got me into gaming, and I want to see that franchise do well.
Shack: So… would you say that EA is committed to the franchise?
Lucy Bradshaw: Oh, absolutely. In fact, there’s a new SimCity version that’s out for the iPhone.
Shack: Yeah. It’s pretty good.
Lucy Bradshaw: Yeah, and there’s lots of different directions… I think, you know, Maxis games have traditionally been something that allows you to take a lot of different avenues and different directions. It’s about, where would we reinterpret [SimCity]. When that comes to the fore, and that passion’s in the right place, all of a sudden we’ll be able to take advantage of it.
Not much to go by, is it? No, not really. In fact, back in 2004 Will Wright was quoted that “We were still appealing to this core ‘SimCity’ group. It had gotten a little complicated for people who had never played ‘SimCity.’ We want to take it back to its roots where somebody who had never heard of ‘SimCity’ can pick it up and enjoy playing it without thinking it was really, really hard.”
So yeah, it doesn’t appear likely and if it was, it’ll probably easier than SimCity 4… Oh well, at least I have CitiesXL to look forward to. The way that game is shaping up, it’ll have to be our “SimCity 5″ for now.

EA spokesman Jeff Brown confirmed the company is considering the Peach State, in addition to Louisiana and Florida, as it seeks to relocate work from high-cost areas like California. Texas had also been in contention, but was dropped.
