Are you excited for Black Friday? I’m not…the fact of dealing with an insane mob of people rushing in to stores trampling over people should be outlawed in my opinion. Instead, I think I might participate online – or just wait until Cyber Monday to see what deals strike. Anyhow, if you’re one of the people who are brave – or crazy – enough to venture out on Friday, November 27… there are a number of good video game deals you can pick up for the gamers in your family.

‘MySims Network’ reviews MySims Party
Aug 13th
Yes, the game has been out for some time but I can’t pass up an oppurtunity to help spread the word from my friends Rosie and ChEeTaH!
MySims Party is not at all like the other MySims games. This one is all about mini-games, though with a little MySims touch. Rather than just being able to play the games one by one, in any order you like, there’s a story mode. You start off with creating your MySim in the usual way: click on the right spot to cycle through the hair, glasses, mouth, skintone and other options. It feels slow as each time you cycle an option, you have to wait about a second for the game to load. You can still get the job done and create the sim you like, though it’ll take a little while.
Fragland – MySims Party Wii review
May 8th
A portion of a MySims Party review for the Nintendo Wii:
The mini-games themselves are very simple to control, or what did you expect. Even a round of Raving Rabbids seems a doctorate compared to this “accessibility”, eventhough many comparable games are present and this game constantly reminds us of Rayman or Mario Party.Pushing one button or shaking with the remote are usually everything you need to do. In principle not a problem (think of WarioWare) but there’s no originality to be found. Only rythm games, something to catch or throw, scraping an ice cream cone, waterin a flower, making or putting something together, you know the drill! Only people not old enough to read this review (or maybe those too drunk) will really have fun with the gameplay. If of course they’re forgiving enough to dismiss the badly registering controls.

IGN reviews MySims Party DS

At best, the mini-games of MySims Party offer a simple diversion for kids. At worst, they are an uninspired cash-in trying to coast on Electronic Arts’ MySims property. The game is weighted more heavily with the former, so we modestly recommend it for younger players. It retains that cute MySims style and the single-card multiplayer is a nice touch. What is here is enough to be a fun, if generic, mini-game collection (again, for kids). In our review for MySims Kingdom last year we wrote that Electronic Arts could be doing much more with this franchise. That is still the case.
Gamervision – MySims Party Wii review

MySims Party isn’t the casual gamer party experience that is going to save the genre. The game is far too simple in every aspect to even be considered a purchase for an adult. However, there’s really quite a bit to like about this game from a younger child’s perspective. If I had a six year-old kid, this is something I could see myself playing with him and his friends. Certainly there are party titles on the system that encompass a wider audience, but I can’t fault MySims Party for being a children’s game. It’s too bad that’s all that it is. Maybe by the next installment, EA will see that there’s an older audience looking for a solid party title, and give us a little more challenge. As of right now, I’m getting to old for this stuff.

Mar 27th
GoNintendo reported that Europe should now be able to download a mini-game demo for their Nintendo DS via their Wii. Hopefully the US will get a version too! Let me know how it plays out!

GameZone – MySims Party DS review
Mar 25th
With 40 mini-games, the discoveries go on for quite a while – longer than necessary, actually, due to the repeat of mini-games in each festival (instead of a new batch of mini-games every time, which would have allowed players to unlock the full lineup much faster). The good news is that most of the mini-games are good, so fans of the genre won’t be bored by the moderate repetition.
If you play the genre frequently, however, there’s little chance that you’ll be blown away by what MySims Party has to offer. Most of the mini-games have been seen in other forms in other party games. The lack of freshness is a bit disappointing and might hurt the experience for players who buy every party game available. But if like the genre and play it more sparingly than others, MySims Party should fulfill your party game needs.
