We’re excited to reveal that this highly customizable kart racer will be in stores June 12, 2009 and the wait will be over! Additionally, the official website is now live so check it out at www.mysimsracing.com.

And that’s not all…we have a few power-up screenshots to help you get through until next month. Power-ups are a strategic way to give you a leg up in the race and hinder your competition. See below for a list of some of the ways you can trip up your opponent and put yourself ahead in the race.

POWER-UPS

  • Melon Accelerator – The Melon Accelerator fires a watermelon that hones in on the closest opponent ahead and sends him into a wipeout upon impact.
  • Pumpkin Catapult – This lobs a big pumpkin ahead of you, creating an ultra-slippery puddle of goo that’ll make opponents spin out of control.
  • Beehive Trail – A trail of hives full of honey are released behind your car and will slow down any opponent that drives into them.
  • Soccer Balls – This allows you to shoot up to three bouncing Soccer Balls. Any opponent hit by one of them will go into a wipeout.
  • Bubble Dropper – Any car that collides with a bubble becomes trapped inside it, hovering in the air for several precious seconds as opponents zoom by.
  • Seed Thrower – This will shoot out a seed that will turn into a fully-grown tree as soon as it hits the ground, creating a potential obstacle for opponents.
  • Force Field – The Force Field surrounds your car with sturdy shields that keep you safe from most items for a short time.
  • Tornado Inverter – This will turn the view of opponents ahead of you upside-down for a limited time, making it harder for them to maneuver their vehicles.
  • Bunny Luv – This power-up summons a cupid-like bunny to shower opponents ahead of you with love, temporarily blocking their field of vision with a multitude of hearts.
  • UFO – Using the UFO will allow you to get a free ride as it zooms along the race track.
  • F-Energy Zap – This will send out a burst of F-Energy, overloading the engines of opponents ahead of you to temporarily reduce their speed and prevent them from boosting.
  • F-Energy Storm – Your boost meter fills with large amounts of F-Energy for a limited amount of time. Use it while you have it!

GameZone: Pre-E3 2009 MySims Racing preview

Before beginning MySims Racing, you must first create your character. You’ll be able to edit their features, including their face, hair, and even the pitch of their voice. Additionally, you can customize their outfits, giving them things like goggles and different clothing options.

Once you’ve created your racer, you can then move on to customizing your kart. You’ll be able to choose from light, medium and heavy karts, with their own benefits and shortcomings in terms of top speed, acceleration, and handling. As you play the game, you’ll unlock new blueprints that allow you to further customize your ride, beefing up its performance abilities and making cool aesthetic changes, adding elements like taillights and specialized wheels.

IGN: MySims Agents pre-E3 2009 hands on

MySims Agents follows the story of your young Sim as they unveil the corrupt underbelly of the city, and it all revolved around the sinister Morcubus, corrupt CEO and shot-caller for all things evil. He’s even got mayor Skip Rogers in his pocket, and when the mayor goes sour you know there will be blood.

Actually, there won’ t be blood, but there will be plenty of user-driven story and content wrapped within the adventure setup. The basic premise has your Sim working for a detective agency where they’re put in charge of building teams and solving cases. Think of it like CSI meets MySims, meets Clue, meets every adventure puzzler out there. You go out on cases, recruit people to help your cause, use gadgets to collect evidence, interrogate anyone that looks suspicious, and eventually lock away the bad guys.

No doubt about it, I think I’ll be shelling out the $40 to $50 for this game.  It simply looks to be the best MySims game yet.

IGN Pre-E3 2009: MySims Racing Hands-on

E3 is soon to kick off…IGN is getting a head start with a hands on demonstration of MySims Racing!

In addition, you can select various vehicle types — small, medium and large classes. The small ones are quicker and the large ones slower, but heavier (and therefore a force to be reckoned with on the tracks). Along the way, you can upgrade your engine, fame, handling and specials. You earn blueprints for special parts that you can build after you’ve completed certain race challenges. You can alter your car’s body, front bumper, headlights and grill, hood ornament (like, for example, a giant dinosaur head), side mirrors, rear accessory, rear taillights, back bumper, wheels and horn. Then, you can go into the paint shop and set your colors and add decals, of which there are about 18 available to start. There are thousands of different personalization options for vehicles, according to EA.

Although EA claims that it didn’t just want to slap the MySims label on a similar racing experience, from what we can tell, the game blatantly copies Mario Kart, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The downer is that MySims Racing doesn’t feature either an online mode or leaderboards, which Kart has in spades on Wii. (It does allow you to save your created Sims and vehicles to the Wii remote so that you can bring your controller to a friend’s house and play, though — that’s something.) The Sims experience is recognizable before matches — all the customization, etc. — but once the races start, it feels and plays like Kart, from the arcade-paced speed to the over-the-top track designs and mid-race bonuses. Even the control schemes are similar.
