Farmageddon – A frenentic farming game from Grant Rodiek

If you’ve followed the Sims series for some time, then Grant Rodiek’s name should be familiar to you. Outside of his daily job, he’s been working on a separate personal project and I’d like to take a moment and give him a hand to let you guys know about it. It’s called Farmaggedon, a card game in which you plant and grow crops for money. Watch the video below for how it works:
Being as this is a self-published game, it’s on Kickstarter right now, hoping to become a reality. They are hoping to reach a goal of $5000 by March 4, and currently (as of this post) they are $1600 in. If you have a couple of dollars and want to help Mr. Rodiek out, please consider pitching in a few extra dollars – even buy the game. Already put my donation in, hope you’ll do the same – Let’s show what the Sims community can really do, please spread the news around on your Sims site, forums, facebook page, twitter and any other means. Just be sure to note that it is NOT involved in any way with EA (legal issues, and all that fun stuff)

Time for a random update! To be honest, I think it’s helping me out some as I’m starting to get a lot more productive with the site again – in terms of updating the various sites pages. Anyhow, back to the randomness.
Earlier in the fall I got hooked onto watching My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. Can’t remember how, I think it was my friends that introduced me to it but I loved it. Sure, it’s originally a cartoon aimed at little girls, but it seemed to have gotten a huge following of male viewers – bronies (brony) is the correct term. The animation reminded me of the old cartoons I used to watch – Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls…it was only after researching that I found the same people animated all of those shows (I believe a majority is from Lauren Faust and/or her husband). Anyhow, it’s a very entertaining show, and I find it much more enjoyable than the random stuff from Spongebob.
I’m not going to go into deep discussion on the show, rather I’d like to show off the work of one of my friends. One of my favorite background ponies is Doctor Whooves. So, knowing that my friend is trying to get her craft business off the ground, I had commissioned this guy:
Technically, he’s no longer a pony, but a mule. Wanted to make him a little different from the others because…well, he’s a time-lord after all! It came out far superb – way better than what Hasbro has to offer. I have plans to help her business out by also commissioning Derpy, the mane 6, Luna, Big Mac, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

Music from the motion picture ‘The Muppets’

Have any of you checked out The Muppets Movie? It came out…I think two weeks ago in the States. I know that for some, it won’t even hit your areas until February…but I must say, go and CHECK IT OUT! Really worth it…I wasn’t even that much into The Muppets, but I went with a few of my friends and, well…was shocked. It was perhaps one of the best, funny and most family-friendly movies of 2011.
The music is fantastic…ever since I saw it, I’ve been on YouTube listening to the soundtrack. I’m attaching it below for any of you that may be interested. I love “Are you a Man or Muppet”, “Life’s a Happy Song” and “Forget You”.
Brought to life in The Sims 3 Pets, my mule Luke Duke

Well, you can officially say I am happy now :D Took a few hours but finally got the ropes of how to work the Create-A-Pet tool that was released earlier today. Well, on the equines, that is. Haven’t played around with cats or dogs. Got two more mules to make, then onto…well, I suppose random mules and maybe my mom’s old appaloosa horse.
Anyways, here’s my mule – Luke Duke, named after one of the Duke boys from the tv show The Dukes of Hazzard. I uploaded a number of screens to flickr, and he’s up on the official Sims 3 Exchange. Please leave a comment/rating m

Alrighty, back from vacation and settled in! Have to admit – I think I need a vacation for the vacation – ton of walking was done, and the event was jammed packed. Never seen so many people in my life, and it helped me discover that I hate large crowds. After this event, I will not be attending E3 next year as I had planned to do or any other large-scaled gaming media event.
But Dragon*Con wasn’t all that bad – did have some highlights in the trip. I ran into Colin Ferguson, Sheriff Jack Carter from SyFy’s Eureka while walking the streets and had my pic taken with him. Also came across 2 Sims during my time! Sadly when I asked if they were familiar with fan/news sites, they were clueless and didn’t keep up with Sim news. Shame on you, Sim-cosplayers! :P
Anyhow, it may be a long-shot, but if anybody that reads this recognizes these two people, please let them know of this post!

Vacation time is finally here (been preparing for it since last October) and it’s time for me to temporarily pass the torch to the staff while I’ll be away amongst many friends and thousands of other geeks for DragonCon. I won’t have access to the internet, so I’ll pretty much be ‘in the dark’ for the few days that I am gone. Luckily, The Black Scorpion will be filling in the role of posting news as well as the rest of the staff! If you need to contact the gang, you can do some by a number of different ways (Facebook, Twitter, email) via jumping to the Staff Page. Sim webmasters that use twitter – I won’t be able to reply to your messages until Sunday, so please direct any responses here if it is of importance!
Now, I shouldn’t have to tell you that during the time I’m away, but please behave yourselves with the comments and remember to use them appropriately. Also, if you happen to find any mistakes in any of the news-posts, please alert the author but do so in a respectable manner. It’d make things so much easier :) I thank you if you can follow those simple rules.

For those that are wondering what DragonCon is, it’s the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe! As you can tell, I’ll fit right in with Vinz Clortho (Keymaster of Gozer), the 10th Doctor (Doctor Who) and of course, a Ghostbuster. If anyone reads this and will be in attendance, try and find me! Also, I’ll be keeping an eye out in case I see a familiar looking green plumbob, as there has been many Sims in attendance in the event’s past years.
I shall return Sunday! “Allons-y!”

I missed most of the awesome news from yesterday, but thanks to the awesome staff we have, they were able to bring to you the updates on everything Sims related! While I was checking back to see what all was new, I saw the following pics that came from the Live Chat yesterday. I can’t seem to get livestream to load the video, so I’m not sure what they had to say, but I’m extremely excited nonetheless.
Ear length sliders! Yes, so it looks like I’ll be able to bring my three mischievous mules into the game to cause havoc after all! They’re pleased to hear…
