Issues with the Sims 3 1.22 Patch Update

Man, these patches turn out to be a complicated mess.  I’m a bit confused on this 1.22 patch and would like some answers.  Is this patch strictly for the base game, or does it combine all of the expansions/stuff pack patches.  Normally, the expansion and stuff packs have their own individual updates… but the only one released was the 1.22 patch, and according to the notes on the website, it appears it is supposed to update all expansions.  Definitely would like clarification on this so I can get the patch(es) uploaded to the site.  I know it’s not the cumulative 644MB patch – I believe thats the combination of all patches released since the base game.

Enough rambling, time to get to the point of this post.  It appears many users are having issues with the latest patch (go figure).  I’m not 100% sure what the error is – something that they install the newest patch, and that the game launcher says there is an update, but there are no more updates.  Anyhow, EA is aware of the issue and recommends users to download the full 644MB standalone base game update.

We are aware of the issues with the update to The Sims 3 launcher, and we’re working towards a permanent fix as quickly as possible.

In the interim: you can download the standalone base game update and this may resolve the issue for some players.

Custom content and unsupported mods may also be preventing the game from patching. Uninstall and delete all third-party mods and unsupported content. After deleting all third-party content, you must manually uninstall The Sims 3 to completely get rid of the extra content.

Note: Installing third-party software changes actual files in The Sims 3. Deleting the unsupported content will not erase the modifications to the game that the software installed.

A Word from Judhudson

Update May 3rd – Being without power for almost a week sucks, but it could have been a lot worse.  My prayers and thoughts goes out to all those who suffered the wraith of the tornadoes that struck Alabama and many other states last Wednesday.  I’ve been in the dark, so I missed out on a lot of the news coverage and I’m slowly playing catchup in terms of the damage the twisters caused.  I thank every one of the readers for leaving their comments below – the family and I made it out okay.  Now to slowly get caught up.  A huge thanks to both ManagerJosh and TheBlackScorpion for keeping the site updated while I was not able to!

Hi Everyone:

This post is being made through ManagerJosh so if it sounds funny, it is from him typing.

As many of you maybe aware or not aware, the past week has had a huge amount of severe storms going through the Midwest portions of the United States. In the last twenty four hours, a tornado ripped right through Huntsville, Alabama. I’m alright, but we’ve lost all power. With all the storms rolling through here, as well as cleanup, we’re not expected to get power for the next three to four days.

In terms of site operations, we will try to post updates as often as we can. Updates will come as regularly as often by my awesome team members. As soon as power is restored, I’ll be back as usual.

Any questions, or comments, please feel free to leave them here for me. Someone will respond (eventually..)

Update 5:58PM Central Time (via ManagerJosh): All the latest reports indicate power will be out for a week. Thank you to everyone for your support, and to my staff who has all stepped up to help out maintain Simprograms in my absence.

New Staff Member – welcome ‘TheBlackScorpion’

You’ve seen his name credited on a number of posts as he often sent me updates that I missed out on.  Well, considering that he did an excellent job with keeping track of the latest news, I’d figure he would make a great part of the staff for SimPrograms.  I’m referring to ‘TheBlackScorpion‘.  Right now he’s in training on how to use WordPress, but he should be getting the hang of it by early next week and you’ll probably see many updates from him in the near future.  Let’s all welcome him with a huge round of applause as he and the rest of the staff are a huge help for both me and for the readers of the site!

The Sims Medieval Tutorials page now up!

I’ve been dreading this as I don’t do too good of a job keeping track of tutorials to begin with, but I’ve been sniffing the net in search of tutorials to add for The Sims Medieval.  While the page is just getting started, we already have a few listings and hope to grow when more people get the game and begin to play.  Check out our tutorials page here, and if you happen to spot one, let us know!

The Sims Medieval Patches page now up!

Need the 1.1.10 patch for The Sims Medieval and your launcher does not seem to work properly?  Get them on our newly launched Patches page for The Sims Medieval!  Thanks to Talbot for sending me the screens, and wouldn’t you know, EA Support is actually useful – as that’s how I found the patch links!

Howdy Hey!

Note from Jud:  Greetings readers!  I’ve enlisted the help of Daniel aka ‘Spon1Player’ to keep a constant flow of news updates when I or other staff members are not available.  Please read his introduction below and give him a nice, warm welcome!

Hello everyone! I am new to SimPrograms and you may see a bit more of me since I will begin posting some awesome Sims things. I am Daniel, but known as Spon1Player in The Sims Community. I chose this name inspired by Spongebob Squarepants when I joined The Sims 2 website back in 2005, I think…

I hope you are all okay, and I thought id just post this to introduce myself.

Happy Simming! Don’t let the bugs catch ya’

Iron Man Project Reboot

For those of you that check the site often, you might recall the “Iron Man Project” that I started.  Unfortunately the original project files were lost due to a hard drive crash and no backups.  I have decided to attempt to restart the project, I have no idea how long this will take, but hopefully the end result will be representative of the work.  Also, the biggest hurdle to get over is the sheer amount of lots required to fill the neighborhood, if anybody would like to contribute lots (or sims for that matter) to this project, please email me the files.  I will credit you in the description and you will be allowed to name the street that it is placed on (no obscenities), all types of lots are appreciated, but please don’t use store content or custom content, however content from all expansion packs and stuff packs is accepted.  Thank you all in advance for the help.  P.S. My email is LukeS3Y@aol.com

Sims 1 Downloads fully online

After a month of prepping preview items, I have just finished adding all of my old content that I created for The Sims 1.  I do believe I am missing a few items – I know I made a Jurassic Park gate as well as some very, very old objects back from 2000 and 2001, but this is the bulk of the content I had backed up on CDs.  Anyhow, it’s not much exciting for those that don’t play the original Sims game (I would recommend getting the complete collection because it’s a must if you never experienced the original series), but for us old timers….well there will always be a place in our hearts for the game that started it all.  Plus, I’ve been wanting to have my works all in one place to begin with.

Anyhow, check out the Sims 1 Downloads page here.  Now that this huge task is finished, I can focus on the poll (tomorrow, hopefully), and try to give each game page their own unique design.

The Sims 3 Game Update 1.19/2.14/3.10/4.7/5.5/6.2

A new patch has been unleashed upon the Sims community.  Do you dare download it and see what awaits, or are you pleased that you have a working game as of now?  Like with any patch, there is no telling what will happen, so have your game discs ready and be prepared for anything.  Hopefully it’s a smooth transition and when all said and done, the bugs will be eliminated.

We’ll have these patches added to the site shortly!  As always, please let me know if this works with Create-A-World (or if there is a new update for that as well).  Thanks!

Note – Make sure you backup your data and download the appropriate ones that your game requires (and to update the base game.  I am not good at troubleshooting these patches, so by all means, please use the launcher and have it update for you if possible.

Patch Notes:

Ambitions Updates

  • The Poltergeist Haunting job will now properly complete when a Ghost Hunter is performing the job on lots containing hot tubs.

General Updates

  • Corrected an issue that prevented launching the game from expansion pack or stuff pack desktop shortcuts for certain computer configurations.
