(iPhone) Spore Creatures

12/17/09 – Spore Creatures demonstration video from Touch Arcade

Touch Arcade has uploaded a demonstration video of Spore Creatures for the iPhone.  Not too shabby, you can tell it shares much of its similarities with it’s predecessor, Spore Origins.

12/17/09 – 3 new screens of Spore Creatures (iPhone)

Spore Creatures, the sequel to Spore Origins will soon make its appearance on the iPhone either in January or February of next year.  The game takes place right after Origin with your creature stepping forth onto land allowing you to continue evolution.  Jeff Scott from 148 Apps was invited to EA to check out the status of the game and brings back his report:

More creature customization options. Lots more. I’ve been told there are well over a billion different possibilities from the dozens of creature parts, colors, and abilities that you can add.

Included in the game itself are 4 different and distinct game play zones. Each zone has 5 different levels to travel through while evolving your little Spore.

The one thing that is really different with the game play over the previous Spore game is that ability to either fight or socialize. This can change the way the game progresses and how your creature evolves.

In other news, I’m also pleased to know that a new Simpsons game will be made available for the iPhone.  Good times to be had indeed, can’t wait!

IGN: Spore Creatures for iPhone preview

I for one am awaiting our new creature overlords…

Since you are now on land, you can add different body parts to your creatures. Out with the cilia and in with the legs. The creature creator tool looks very similar to the original from origins, as you attach new parts and pieces to increase your creature’s relevant stats like offense, defense, and sight. Because there is no “right” way to build out a spore, you can experiment with different combos and come up with a creature that suits your style. If you want to move up the food chain by force, you can install fangs and other offensive measures on your creature. If you want to survive by eluding danger, then improve your creature’s speed and perception with additional eyes, ears, and legs.

Your iPhone/iPod is about to evolve with Spore Creatures

EA Mobile showed off their lineup of upcoming iPhone/iPod games this past weekend at PAX 2009.  One of those games was Spore Creatures, the sequel to Spore Origins.  Now, don’t get this version mixed up with the DS’ Spore Creatures, as this is a whole different game. It was recreated from the ground up, giving you 20 levels split in 4 zones.  You’ll be controlling your creature by tilting your device, devouring smaller animals to grow your pocket friend into a “lean, mean evolutionary machine”.  You’ll be able to battle bosses during the end of a select number of levels, so your decisions will impact how the creature’s skills will develop.

When it comes to constructing your creatures, you’ll be able to choose from 5 categories of options:  offense, defense, movement, social and perception.  You’ll be able to unlock new parts when your creature hits a certain evolutionary point.  Other game options include the ability to use your own photos as textures – much like Spore Origins – and support to listen to your own library of music (if you have the 3.0 OS update).

My only question is if it’ll tie in to Spore Origins so you can pull your organism from that game into Spore Creatures.  No dates were announced, but they did mention it will be released before their fiscal year ends – so sometime before the end of March 2010.
