(PC) Creepy & Cute
Spore & Spore Creepy & Cute now available on Steam
Dec 19th

UPDATE – I emailed MaxisCactus earlier and found out that Spore on Steam does NOT contain SecuROM. *Cheers*. Way to go, guys this is how it’s done right :D. It makes me want to repurchase Spore and Cute & Creepy. Sadly, I’d be throwing money away if I did. But I’ll keep Steam in mind for future EA games if they leave out the DRM. Hopefully TS3 will appear on Steam!
It appears that the rumors of Spore on Steam has proven to be true. EA released a handful of games today to be made available on Valve’s Steam platform with such hits as Spore, Spore Creepy & Cute,
Over the next few weeks, Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space and Red Alert 3 will show up.
“EA is one of the industry’s largest publishers,” said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. “The EA titles coming to Steam this holiday include some this year’s top PC titles.”
“We are pleased to extend our holiday titles to gamers worldwide via Steam — a revolutionary technology that is one of the game industry’s most successful digital distribution services,” said John Pleasants, President, Global Publishing & Chief Operating Officer.
So what does this mean with EA’s DRM? Are they still planning to keep SecuROM on their games? I don’t have an answer for you yet…But if I recall correctly a few of the games on Steam do infact come with SecuROM. So if I had to guess, it probably still contains the crappy.
If only EA would let Steam’s DRM handle things…Well…hopefully this means we won’t have to fool around with the EA Downloader anymore!

Spore Creepy & Cute Explorer
Dec 15th
EA UK launched a small online tool in which you can make your own Spore Creepy & Cute Christmas themed card. Using the Spore Creepy & Cute Explorer, you can open presents which contain spore creatures. Dump them out and you can pose them to your liking. It’s a good 5-10 minute time waster in case you are wondering. I played with it for awhile and came up with this:
PopMatters – Spore Creepy & Cute Parts review
Dec 11th
After installing and playing with the Spore C&C for a while, I did feel that the game benefited from the greater variety of parts available. Still, adding a few dozen body parts to the creature creation tools seems like a disappointingly simplistic approach to sparking creativity in the user community. I couldn’t help but think back to a simpler time, when user-created content was an indie thing that required a fairly rigorous set of digital design skills but was completely and absolutely open-ended. It seems to me that since so much of Spore’s concept revolves around a shared, creative community, limiting players’ creativity with a pre-set collection of materials impedes the growth of the fan base. In other words, I think it’s a big, fat, hairy mistake.
Gamepyre – Spore Creepy & Cute review
Dec 11th
Gamepyre put together a 6 page review on Spore Creepy & Cute Stuff Pack. To sum it up, here’s what they said:
The Spore expansion pack, Spore – Creepy & Cute is worth purchasing only if Spore is your favorite game; at least the game that you spend the most time playing. If you do not play Spore on a regular basis, the Creepy and Cute expansion pack is a total waste of cash. Al least this time EA was honest about what we get with the Creepy & Cute expansion pack. All you get is written on the back of the box; you get 60 new parts, 48 new paint jobs and 24 new animations. That is it. If all you play is Spore that might just be enough, but for all occasional players that is probably not a purchase worth making.
SporePrograms / SimPrograms Christmas Giveaway Contest – Spore Creepy & Cute
Dec 10th
Finally, the time has come to make the decision on who gets the Spore Creepy & Cute Stuff Pack!
There were a total of 5 entries. I’ll list them in order of their creations – Donkule by WyldJoker, Donkey from Shrek by Juan Acuna, Wonkey by Audrey, North African Donkey by Fleshtear and then Mule by Vonboy.
Now it’s time to pick the best three out of the five. I hate doing this to be honest. Wished I had more games to hand out since you have entered my contest. Sadly I only bought 3. :( But I do thank you for the time you spent to come up with these critters! After loading them into my Spore game and played with each one, I found these to be the best 3 of the bunch:
Congratulations goes to Audrey for Wonkey, VonBoy for Mule and WyldJoker for Donkule. You’ll soon be getting Creepy & Cute in the mail after I contact you for your information. Thanks to Juan Acuna and Fleshtear for entering the contest
3 copies of Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack arrived in my mail earlier today. Now, the questions is…what should I do to give them away? How about a contest! Usually, I’m not good at deciding how to do contests but I’ve been thinking about holding a particular one for awhile. Now that thought has turn into a reality with:
How about that crafty 5 minute photoshop job? :P
This contest is going to be very simple. What I would like you to do is to come up with a creation based on a Mule and/or Donkey. I linked to Wikipedia in case you’re not familiar with what they are. Now don’t be crafty and come up with a Mule Deer or a Mule ATV – those don’t count I’m afraid. Oh, and don’t try to pass off other creations from the Sporepedia as your own, I’m familiar with what is out there as I manage a Sporecast based on mules and donkeys.
The rules:
- Contest is only open for US citizens
- Create a Mule/Donkey creation
- Upload it to the Sporepedia
- Send me the link to your creation, my email is Judhudson@knology.net CONTEST IS OVER
- Contest ends next Tuesday (December 9) at 8:00 PM CST
- I’ll pick the best 3 from the bunch and if you win, you’ll hear back from me with details on how to get your game!
It’s that simple. So get cracking at it, I don’t want to be stuck with 3 copies, I already know I’m getting one for Christmas! Good luck everyone!
VGR Review: Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack
Dec 3rd
The Verdict
The Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack won’t wow fans or entice non-fans to give Spore another try, but it does offer a ton of new parts for a cheap price, despite the recession we find ourselves in. If you enjoy playing the part of Dr Frankenstein and making some weird creatures, then this pack might be right up your alley. Otherwise it’s hard to recommend.
Remember, if you want to grab a free copy of Spore Creepy & Cute, then please enter SporeProgram’s contest!
Amazon – Spore Creepy and Cute Parts Pack for $9.95

Black Friday Shoppers, Amazon has a deal for you! If you’ve yet to grab a copy of Spore Creepy & Cute Pack (like me), then you can buy one for $10. If I recall, Amazon’s Black Friday sale lasts until Sunday, but if you really want to buy this pack I wouldn’t wait. As for me, personally it is a good price but I prefer purchasing my games in store and not online. So I’ll keep waiting until I come across a similar deal :P

Markiem from the Sporums compilied just about all parts and paintings from the Spore Creepy & Cute pack for those who have yet to decide to purchase it. You can check out his thread at the official Spore forums or keep reading this post for what he has to say. I have to send out my congratulations to him for putting the effort into doing this and I gave many of his creations a thumbs up!
Hi everybody. There are people who aren’t sure if they want to buy this product, so in a fit of OCD, I have compiled the following images, which show all that the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack has to offer. I am only doing this to satisfy people’s curiosity, not as any endorsement of the product itself.
First of all… here are the mouth parts. There are four of each (carnivore, omnivore, and herbivore). I have included both a front and side view of each.
