Spore Galactic Adventures hands-on for English players

Sporedum found an interesting post by EAUK’s Community Manager, Aurora. Some of the Spore players and fansites from Europe have been invited to join EA for an early hands-on demo with Spore Galactic Adventures!

On June 18th, there is a possibility that EA will be holding a hands-on day for specially selected Spore fans to give the Galactic Adventures expansion a whirl!
At this point I am approaching the members that we have selected as possible candidates for the event if we are to go ahead.
The event would be held at EA offices in Guildford, Surrey so you would need to be able to travel to and from the venue on the 18th. The proposed schedule for the day would look something like:
10:00 – 10:15 Welcome
10:15 – 11:00 GA Mission Demo / Tutorial
11:00 – 18:00 Create Your Missions! (with guidance from Team)
18:00 – 18:15 ClosingSo what I need to know is:
- If you would be interested in and able to attend
- If the answer to the above is ‘yes’, please send me your first and last name, an email address to contact you on with details and your age.
The reason that we need to ask your age us because it may not be possible for us to get permission to have under 16’s attend the event, even if they were accompanied by an adult. This is something we will find out and let you know if the outcome would effect you.
So please could you reply to this message with your answers by Thursday evening so that we can look into proceeding?

Challenge Details
Dream up a surreal scene for a Galactic adventure, then organize a cohesive collection of prop creations to flesh it out in a Sporecast for the Surreal Setting Prop Challenge!

Start by imagining up a dreamlike (or nightmarish) setting for a galactic Adventure. You’re welcome to use the following questions to find inspiration. Is your setting…• In the future or the past?
• On an alien world, or somewhere familiar?
• Claustrophobically enclosed or dangerously open?
• Toxically waste-ridden or fanciful and fun?Got artists block?

We’ll post our favorite submissions here, then YOU get to vote for which one is your top pick! The winner may be featured if it meets our criteria for featured creations.
• It must not contain any creation parented or created by different authors.
• It must not contain any creation with an offensive creation in its lineage (any parent or child creations).
• It must not contain any creation with any links or references to other sites in the submission’s tags, name, or descriptionSubmissions that do not meet the above criteria will not be considered for the poll
Rules:
• Your sporecast submission should be based on any surreal setting you’ve imagined
• To submit a sporecast, tag it with: mcsurrealchallenge and post a link to the Sporecast here.
• You can submit as many sporecasts as you’d like
• Sporecasts must contain at least 10 assets.
• All creations in the Sporecast must be tagged with GAprop
• Creations in the Sporecast can be made in any editor, but must all be made by you or members on your team!

Q: Can I work with a team to create my Sporecast?
A: Yes. There can be up to 5 members on a team. If you’re on a team, your Sporecast should also be tagged with your team name, starting with Team_ such as Team_LlamaLovers.You should designate a team leader, who creates the entry post and publishes the Sporecast. All team member names should be included as tags on the Sporecast.
If an individual wins the challenge, his/her Sporecast will be featured. If a team wins the challenge, each team member will have a creation featured.
Q: I know this is for props, can I add creatures?
A: Since it’s required that all creations in your Sporecast be tagged “GAprop” please keep in mind that part of the purpose of this tag is to help others find props.If your creature creation looks like an object, it is allowed, but you’re not allowed to use just any creatures and simply tag them GAprop to make your submission eligible.

It’s time to get ready to pump up for Spore’s first expansion pack, Spore Galactic Adventures! I’m getting excited thinking about it…Only two weeks away! Us fellow Spore fans aren’t the only ones though…Maxis is too! In fact, they’ve revamped part of the Spore website and brought forth a number of new features and much needed changes and improvements!

- Download it button: another way to get creations into your game, simply click “download it” and next time you start your game and login, the creation will be downloaded.*
*The Download Now feature is not yet complete. Clicking the button now won’t hurt anything, but you’ll have to wait until later this month before the feature is ready to use.
Ohhhh…taking a cue from the Sims 3 website and implemented a feature to easily download creations into the game…Nice, I like that!
PrimaGames – Short Spore Galactic Adventures preview

Since there’s only a couple of weeks to go until Galactic Adventures is released, I figured this would be a good time to discuss some of the new elements of this expansion. In particular, the new captain parts. In all, there are 32 new captain parts that enhance your captain’s abilities. Some of these parts are weapons, useful during combat-oriented adventures. One of my favorites is the Swarm Magnet, a ranged weapon that summons a swarm of viscous insects to attack your target. But there’s also social-based parts, helpful for boosting your captain’s skills during social interactions, such as the Fettipopper. This device launches confetti into the air, helping impress others during pose-based social interactions.
Now that The Sims 3 has been released, I can finally give Spore Galactic Adventures the attention it deserves! Just 2 more weeks and we’ll be able to pick it up at our local retailers and online!
