The Sims 2 Apartment Pets (DS) review by Vooks.net
Sep 21st
The Sims 2: Apartment Pets is a game that starts off well, has an appealing concept and is mechanically sound. Unfortunately, the limited scope of the game will quickly turn off most players. The game could have had far more longevity if the developers had provided a few more options for players to interact with the outside world. It was the external interaction that made Nintendogs more than just a pet sim and it would have only taken some simple things to add some much needed depth and replayability.
GameZone – The Sims 2 Apartment Pets (DS) review
Sep 17th
That being said, The Sims 2 Apartment Pets did a fair enough job of maintaining my attention, at least, for an hour or so. Initially I was instructed to conjure up a Sim character using the slightly limited customization options. I first had to choose the gender. The top screen displayed sketchy renders of both a male and female Sim. After choosing, I proceeded to choose a face, hair, and clothing. Ok, so maybe more emphasis was placed on the actual environments within Apartment Pets. I booted up the game.
Again with the low scores…Apartment Pets picks up an overal 5.5 from GameZone. I guess this is another game to get when it makes its way into the bargin bin. Problem is…even though I have a DS, I just never use it. I’m always on the go so handhelds are perfect…but at the same time when I’m on the go, I’m busy. I can’t win!

Is it just me, or do Maxis games on handhelds suck in general? This time, a review for The Sims 2 Apartment Pets (DS) from BCS gives their opinion.
If you’re looking for simple repetitive game play and love animals, then this is the game for you, if however, you want something with a bit more depth and charm then I’d suggest leaving this puppy in the window.

The Sims 2 Apartment Pets (DS) preview – Pocket Gamer
Aug 18th
Although The Sims 2 Apartment Pets doesn’t bring anything exactly new to The Sims series that we haven’t seen before, it’ll be the first opportunity to access pets on a handheld. The new features being added for this DS translation should justify the standalone package, particularly if you’ve never experienced any of the previous games. We’d be keen to see some form of wireless item sharing supported, but in its current state it’s a passable trick worthy of a treat.
The Sims 2 Apartment Pets (DS) Updated Impressions- GameSpot
Aug 14th
Your uncle has gone on vacation in Europe for a year and he’s letting you move into his swanky apartment as a house-sitter. There’s just one catch: you also have to manage his pet spa business downstairs. Customers will bring in their pets, each with their own specific problems ranging from displeasing odor to massive flea infestation. In order to help out these animals in need, you play through a number of minigames, earning cash which in turn can be used to purchase new items for your own pet or your apartment.

Nintendo World Report – Impressions on The Sims 2 Apartment Pets (DS)
Aug 5th
The animal interface is tied into how your Sim gets on in life. The pet salon is your main source of income, and in order to make good money, you must tend to other pets that customers bring in. You get a notification that a new customer wants pet service, at which time you have the option of taking the elevator down to the salon on the ground floor. You can use touch screen to perform tasks like clearing up fleas, picking a new collar, and eliminating funky odors from the pet. If you don’t want to be bothered with cleaning up someone else’s filthy pets, you’ll still earn money, but it won’t be as much if you take charge of your shop and do things manually.
Clearing up fleas, eliminating funky odors…That doesn’t sound like a game I want to play! In fact, I’m in the process of doing that now with a cat we adopted from the pound!
