The Sims 2 Apartment Life review – Suite 101
Sep 19th
Apartment Life is most similar to The Sims 2’s first expansion pack, University. In University, Sim teens can add an extra phase of life – young adult – by attending college. Living in an apartment building in Apartment Life is a lot like living in the dormitories in University – only as an adult, with the ability to have children.
Just like non-playing character (NPC) dormmates in University, your Sim family may have up to three other families living on the same lot in inaccessible portions of the building. How does this benefit you in any way? First, instead of randomly generated NPCs, you can populate the apartment building with your own playable families. Further, if your Sims are concerned with popularity, having other Sims around for interaction really helps a decaying social meter. With the new reputation meter in Apartment Life, however, social interaction matters to everyone – not just socially minded Popularity Sims.
Most of you are probably enjoying the pack, but I’m still left without it. It looks to be a great expansion, no doubt at that. I’m just to cheap to purchase it for $30. I still need to pick up Ikea Stuff as well. But I’m holding off until Toys R Us has the Sim games on clearance for half off, then I’ll make my steal

Talk about a monster! The Sims 2 Apartment Life takes #1 again for the second week in the row. Why did it beat out Spore? Most likely due to the fact that Spore wasn’t out long enough to top the expansion. But I’m willing to bet it will rank #1 on next week’s chart.

IGN: The Sims 2 Apartment Life review
Sep 9th
It’s odd recommending an expansion pack like this with The Sims 3 coming out early next year. Yet if you’re looking for more content to tide you over until the next game, Apartment Life certainly works as a solid expansion. It doesn’t completely reinvent the style of gameplay you’re used to, but it does make enough interesting tweaks and additions to warrant a look. And if this does turn out to be the last bit of official content released, it’s not a bad way to go out for such a venerable franchise.
The Sims Zone covers The Sims 2 Apartment Life
Sep 7th
One of my favorite Sims website – The Sims Zone published a review for the latest expansion pack: The Sims 2 Apartment Life. Head on over their to read their thoughts:
When I heard about Apartment Life being the final expansion pack for The Sims 2, I looked forward to it with interest. I had been after having my sims live in apartment buildings for a long time. When Nightlife came out, I thought that would be the ideal opportunity to introduce it. Well, it has taken another three years and apartment living is now a reality as the expansion pack is here.
With a lot of people looking forward to it, can such an expansion pack meet with those expectations?
This indepth review will tell you whether we think Apartment Life is a penthouse paradise or flatshare from hell.
Goopy interview with the Maxiods on Apartment Life
Sep 6th
The maxiods conducted an interview with their very own Goopy GilsCarbo on The Sims 2 Apartment Life. The interview can be found on their forums from the official Sims 2 site. Oh, Maxoids…you are something else :) Below are a few sample questions:
Goopy: Will there be motorcycles in the game?
Lakshmi: There are a few motorcycle enthusiasts on the team who always insist we need to get the Sims riding on motorcycles.
Shannon: But we did a couple test runs and our Sims kept falling off the bikes. We felt it was too dangerous for us to give them free rein.
Lakshmi: We have to think of their safety.
Goopy: Here’s a very popular question: what, if anything, does the Bella Goth mystery have to do with Apartment Life or Belladonna Cove?
Lakshmi: All of the people in the town feel so bad about what happened to Bella that they commissioned a statue of her.
Shannon: And when you are not playing the game, they all surround the statue and hope for her safe return.

The following article came across my RSS feeds this morning. Since the readers of this site consist of a wide variety, I thought I would post this information. GayWired published an article on The Sims 2 and covered the recent expansion pack, Apartment Life. In the article, they give their thoughts of the game along with links, tools and hacks to make the game more “adult” friendly. For those wanting to spice up your Sims life, I suggest you to read the article. The article itself should be SFW (safe for work) but don’t venture on out past that. It still could be safe for work, but I’m in a rush to finish with this mornings updates to check it out.

Unofficial Apartment Life Patch at MATY
Sep 2nd
More Awesome Than You wins the internet once more, creating a patch which fixes critical bugs in Apartment Life before Maxis even has time to blink. The fixes are listed below.
1. Cellphones can now be answered without being eated.
2. Receiving NL-mail at an apartment now works, no longer renders mailbox unusable and dooming your sim to eventual eviction.
3. Cooking skill is FUBAR’ed by moving into an apartment.
1up reviews The Sims 2 Apartment Life
Aug 31st
This expansion is mostly great — the only thing that sucks about it, oddly enough, is its relative lateness with regards to The Sims 2′s life cycle. With so many expansion packs out already — and with The Sims 3 getting closer — it’s inevitable that many gamers will overlook this one as the series winds down. It’s a pity, because this is definitely one of the best Sims expansions EA’s ever released. It strikes the perfect balance of adding new material without taking away from the overall game, and it doesn’t feel like a completely different path but rather a cool new take on some of the basic mechanics. It’s a must-have for Sims 2 zealots, especially for those who skipped out on the last crop of expansions. Give it a go — Apartment Life succeeds at facilitating a great new life for your Sims without straying too far from the old block.
