Toy’s R Us: Buy 2 Get 1 Free!

I <3 Toy’s R Us deals.  It’s how I usually do most of my game shopping.  They are holding a special sale for Geoffrey’s Birthday and includes all games that are priced $19.99 and below for various systems.  If you purchase 2 games, you can get the 3rd game for free!  Below are deals for various Sim games (and Spore Creature Creator).

NDS – The Sims 2 Castaway – $19.99

PC – Spore Creature Creator – $9.99

PC – SimCity Societies – $9.98

PC – The Sims Castaway Stories – $19.99

Well…dang.  I have all of them except the Castaway series, and I’m not interested in getting them.  At least they have a few games for other systems.  Even though I might not be interested in them, they make for excellent Christmas gifts!

I am a little nerved though that MySims isn’t on that list!  I would of picked up both the Wii and DS versions if it was!

IGN reviews The Sims 2 Castaway (Cell)

Sims 2 Castaway is a nice little game for Sims fans. It can get very repetitive and I started to lose interest about 4 days into the game, but for a cellphone game EA managed to pack in quite a bit for the money. There isn’t a lot of replayability, but if you were stuck on an island how many times would you really want to go back to it after you managed to escape?

IGN gave The Sims 2 Castaway for the Cell phone a 7.0, which is pretty decent.  Since I don’t own a cell phone, I can’t really comment on the game, but I’d give it a chance after reading their review.

EA announces The Sims 2 Castaway Stories for PC

You should now be able to find The Sims Castaway Stories for sell around the US and Europe. In fact, EA put out a press release about it. This will make it the third in the Stories series.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 6, 2008–Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) announced today that The Sims(TM) Castaway Stories for the PC is on store shelves across the U.S. and Europe. Featuring engaging characters and accessible storylines, The Sims Castaway Stories is sure to entertain both new and experienced players of The Sims. For the first time ever on the PC, your Sim can leave the urban jungle for an uncharted island filled with sandy beaches, green lagoons, explosive volcanic mountains and more!

The Sims Castaway Stories is the third game from The Sims Stories, a series of pick-up and play laptop games from EA’s The Sims franchise. The Sims Stories allows fans to get creative and stay connected by keeping in touch with friends by using IM and email – even while playing the game in its own window! Following the theme of the wildly-entertaining The Sims 2 Castaway, which became available on consoles and handhelds last year, The Sims Castaway Stories features an easy-to-play, directed Story Mode that allows fans to help their Sim survive and thrive on a tropical island.

As The Sims Castaway Stories begins, players will meet Jessica, a Sim who washes ashore with only a steamer trunk and a hatchet to her name. With nothing more than orangutans, lagoons and fish in sight, Jessica embarks on her tropical journey and must choose to either survive or escape. While on the island, Jessica will meet natives and castaways in hopes of creating a flourishing community. To do this she must accomplish various tasks – from spear fishing and scavenger hunting to fire starting and more!

“We’re very excited to bring the rich, beautifully tropical environments to players with The Sims Castaway Stories. Whether you’re roaming around the lush green jungles in search of the perfect coconut, or taking an ocean dip in search of your next meal, The Sims Castaway Stories is the perfect way to experience island life on your laptop,” said Rod Humble, Head of The Sims Studio. “Available for the first time on the PC, The Sims Castaway Stories also comes with the traditional open-ended The Sims gameplay, so you can continue following the life your Sim has created!”

The Sims Stories line of products – all of which are rated T (Teen) by the ESRB – are standalone entertainment experiences that do not require companion games from The Sims library – just load onto your laptop or desktop and play. The Sims Castaway Stories washes ashore today!

There is one thing I have to ask….Who exactly plays these “Stories” game. I don’t have a clue about them. Are they even mod-able like the original Sims 2 series?
