KidzWorld – The Sims 3 for DS reviewed
Oct 27th
Possibly one of the best rated Sim games, 4 out of 5 rating. Here’s a snippet from a review by KidzWorld:
The Sims are back and better than ever. The setting for the new Sims 3 for Nintendo DS is Beacon Bay, a quite neighborhood on the water. Players can choose a home near the water (which is beautiful but may be threatened by typhoons) or closer to the city (where the hospital and art gallery is). Homes can be purchased furnished, unfurnished or non-existent (ie. bare lot). Each character begins with $20,000 Sims dollars to put towards their home.

Oct 26th
GameInformer is giving away a few copies of The Sims 3 for PS3 along with a couple copies of The Sims 3 Late Night for PC in a new contest where you have to speak Simlish to win! You need to tell them in their comments section of this post how much you want the game – in Simlish – without using a single English word otherwise you will be disqualified. I do not see a restriction on who can enter, so give it a shot – they’ll pick the winners on Thursday.

The Sims 3 for Consoles battles the used market with EA’s Online Pass System
Oct 26th
For those planning on picking up a used copy of The Sims 3 for Console (specifically the Xbox 360 version), be warned of EA’s new Online Pass system they have implemented to battle the second-hand market. When users buy a new, sealed copy of The Sims 3, a special online pass is included to grant players the use to The Exchange where you can upload and download custom content. It’s a very small download that is roughly 108KB in size and ties into your GamerTag.
If you trade in the game or sell it to a friend or on Ebay, the EA Pass is tied to your account, thus the new buyer will not be able to use it. Instead, they will have to purchase their own Access software rights for 800 Microsoft Points.
Some may agree, others may not. I often buy second-hand games but in this case, I’ll just wait for the inevitable price drop and get a new sealed copy for cheap.

VideoGamer – The Sims 3 for Consoles reviewed (PS3)
Oct 26th
The whole system is a logical step for The Sims. Fans have spent years attempting to impose their own will on the game by using cheats or deleting ladders from the pool, and Karma is a way of turning that into an aspect of gameplay. It offers structure for your madness, because the freedom to do what you like is now something that needs to be earned. And while it’s not necessarily a reason to bin your PC copy, it’s refreshing to see that madness developed into a natural part of the game. Needless to say, I used the rest of my points on punishments, leaving Emily to break out in boils again.
GameSpot – The Sims 3 for Consoles reviewed (Xbox 360)
Oct 26th
GameSpot has added their review of the Xbox 360 version of The Sims 3. Not only that, but you can catch a few new screens along with a couple of gameplay videos!
The Sims 3 may not be the perfect fit for consoles, but it’s hard to deny the attraction. As annoying as the loading times and frequent pauses are, there is something indelibly rewarding about controlling the lives of these delightful goofballs. None of the wonderful additions of the PC version’s expansions–vacations, workday activities, photography, and so on–were implemented here, so you might suspect plans of premium downloadable content in the future. Nevertheless, The Sims 3 is still loaded with dozens of hours of gameplay, and is further bolstered by the online exchange, which is available from the main menu. Using the exchange, you can upload your creations and download others; or if you are willing to part with a bit of extra cash, you might purchase new items from the store. In other words, the game will keep you busy for a while. It’s too clunky to be consistently satisfying, but if you’re searching for the delights of everyday life, you might very well find them lurking within The Sims 3.
