GDC 2010 Leak: ‘The Sims 3′ spotted for the Nintendo DS
Mar 13th
We know that ‘The Sims 3′ is slated to come to consoles and handhelds as EA CEO John Riccitiello mentioned it in the fiscal report back in early February. Yet it hasn’t been confirmed to what they’ll appear on. The Nintendo DS is a safe bet now as a folder was spotted titled ‘Sims 3 DS’ during Richard Evans’ powerpoint presentation about “Modeling individual personalities in The Sims 3.”
Richard Evans is an AI Specialist working at EA/Maxis on the Sims franchise, so it would make sense that he had some unreleased materials floating around his computer. As he was preparing his laptop (while plugged into the audience facing screens) the entire room got a look at the folder shortcuts on his personal machine.
While he was loading his PowerPoint slides, I was frantically reading folder names to try and see anything interesting. Well, there was. A folder entitled “Sims 3 DS” was nestled in between a few nondescript folders (SimpleSocializing and Tester).

The Sims 3 on consoles, MySims Sky Heroes & Spore to have online support?
Feb 9th

EA COO John Schappert said during the company’s Q3 financial earnings call Monday that “every one of EA’s releases will have an online component—both downloadable content and online play.” That goes for Dead Space 2, the two Need For Speed titles, and Crysis 2, as well as Fighting Title and Action Title. Everything.
Now, does everything even go as far as MySims Sky Heroes, the new Spore games and the various console/handheld releases of The Sims 3? Cause if so, it’s about time! There are a number of EA games that would of been perfect for online play – MySims Racing and MySims Party for one. I wonder what online feature’s they’ll consist of…leader boards, a library of downloadable content (like the Sporepedia), a Sims 3 Store (no thanks!). Better keep your word, EA. I want to start playing your games online! Source: Kotaku
EA CEO John Riccitiello hints at The Sims 3 francise becoming multi-platform
Dec 11th
Well, all this speculation of The Sims 3 coming to consoles and handhelds can be put at rest – the head-honcho of EA hinted on the fact that The Sims 3 will make it’s appearance on multiple platforms during the 37th Annual Global Media Conference. As to what it’ll appear on still remains a mystery but it is official word that it will be coming…
Big plans for existing franchises was another running theme during the presentation. Listing off games, Riccitiello included The Sims franchise, hinting at big announcements coming up in regards to bringing the franchise multiplatform. He also indicated big plans for EA Sports Active and the Need for Speed franchise, with new games coming from both franchises.

The Sims 3 – coming to consoles in Oct. 2010?
Dec 8th
We know that ‘Edge of Reality‘ may be working on The Sims 3 for PS3 and Xbox 360 but now we have some more information to go by. SimFans.de spotted listings on ABC Software of The Sims 3 appearing for the Nintendo Wii, DS, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms:
- Nintendo DS listing for The Sims 3
- Nintendo Wii listing for The Sims 3
- PlayStation 3 listing for The Sims 3
- Xbox 360 listing for The Sims 3
All games are marked to be released on October 28, 2010. No doubt this is a placeholder date and at this time, we cannot confirm it to be true. However it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see the game make its way onto consoles. It is a little surprising it hear it’ll be for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms…for the most part many would say those are ‘hardcore’ consoles. But I’d be happy to see them regardless what they come on!

EA: The Sims 3 could come to consoles (duh!)
May 8th
MCV has a short article up with a statement from Nancy Smith, the boss of The Sims Division stating that The Sims 3 could make its rounds to console.
“The Sims 3 is a bit of a technology transition for us. But we have a team of 350 people in San Francisco working on it.
We are focused on launching it on the PC first and will see where it goes from there.”
I don’t even know why I am posting this…It’s a given that it will be ported to consoles…They are a part of EA, they port to just about everything! I’ll think I’ll hold off until the day a version is released for my toaster.
