Without a doubt to anybody’s surprise, Starcraft II took the #1 spot, bumping down several games – including all those in The Sims franchise. Oh, as for The Sims 3 High End Loft Stuff, it’s #3 in the Budget Price Listing.

The Sims 3 Patch update 1.14/2.9/3.5/4.2
Jul 30th
updated to include patch links for PC and Mac – thanks to everyone who contributed the links – they will eventually be added to the patches page in the near future!
This is becoming tedious with all of the patches for the different version of games :/ But I do appreciate the bug fixes – especially now that Create-A-World was fixed (I give credit to Frankie’s good luck)! As always, be sure to backup your game data and possibly gather your games in case the patch boogers up and you have to reinstall. In fact, you may want to keep an eye over at the official Sims 3 forums to see what other’s reactions are before you proceed.
Anyhow, the list of bug fixes – shoutout to SimGalorie for the tip! Oh, and always if anyone can gather the links for me I’ll add them to this post (cannot find them at work):
Before installing this game update, you must check for corrupt content that may be slowing down your game. Follow these steps to remove the content before installing the game update:

- If you had that file in your C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCBackup folder, this may have attached itself to your exports. If you had that file and recently exported content to your Launcher, delete that content from your Export folder and your Launcher.

Before installing an Update for The Sims 3, an Expansion Pack, or a Stuff Pack, it is a good idea to run through the following checklist to ensure your game continues to work smoothly.
If you have any questions about the below steps, please visit the Technical Support forum on the official Sims 3 community found at this URL: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/forums/show/10.pageStep 1: Disable Custom Content
Custom Content is all Sims content that did not come from an official The Sims 3 Update, The Sims 3 Store, Expansion Pack, or Stuff Pack. Custom Content is created by 3rd Party Developers that are not regulated by Electronic Arts or The Sims 3 Development Team and may not work with new updates. Custom Content may cause the game to behave unexpectedly or not function entirely.
To disable your custom content, undo whatever you did to install this content to get your game back into an unmodified state. If you placed it in a Sims 3 directory folder, move it to a new folder that is outside your Sims 3 file directory. Your Sims 3 file directory can be found using the paths listed below:
Windows File Directory: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
Mac File Directory: User/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims/
Once you have installed the official update you may re-enable your custom content. If you experience problems, disable it again until the 3rd party developer updates their content to work with the official Update, Expansion Pack, or Stuff Pack.
Step 2: Back Up your Save Files
It’s always a good precaution to back up your save files before installing an Expansion Pack, Update, or Stuff Pack. To do this, copy the “.sims3” folders found in the Saves folder onto your desktop or another file directory.
Your Sims 3 Saves folder can be found using the paths listed below:
Windows File Directory: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves
Mac File Directory: User/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims/Saves
After the Update is installed, run the game to verify your saves still function correctly.
Step 3: Let the Update Complete Entirely
Updates can sometimes be rather large and may take a while to download and install completely. Cancelling the update before it has completed may cause unexpected problems, so it is always best to let it finish entirely. Do not close the Launcher until you have confirmed the update is completely installed, as this will cancel the update.
RealGamer – The Sims 3 Ambitions review
Jul 27th
A portion of a review on The Sims 3 Ambitions by RealGamer:
Following the Sims to work has always been a big thing for fans, and Ambitions allows players to do just that. I’ll use the fire fighter career to explain. One of my brave Sims set out for work one morning and I watched as his carpool transported him to the fire station. Once he arrived, there was work to be done. The Fire truck needed maintaining so I set him to work on that and when that was finished, I got him to maintain the alarms. Then there was an emergency! My Sim ran to the engine which then drove him and his colleagues to a burning neighbourhood house where they bravely put out the fire and received experience points (essential for career progression). Back at the station, My Sim was smelly so I sent him to the work showers whilst some of the other fire fighters played a game of fussball, relaxed in the employees beds or simply took to the work gym and pumped iron before their next big call out. After a hard days work, my Sim returned home to tell his family all about it!

One of these days we’re going to see all of the top 10 spots full of EA/Maxis games. I’m sure EA would love to see that. Oh, and The Sims 3 High End Loft Stuff is at #4 on the Budget Price list…so that makes 5 of the 10

The Sims Zone – The Sims 3 Ambitions reviewed
Jul 21st
To get straight to the meat of this expansion, it is all about new professions. This term is used in order to differentiate between the existing career tracks where you can see your sims go to work and apart from setting the tone of how they are going to work, there is not a lot else you can do.
With these new professions, your sims either work away from the rabbit holes or even have a rabbit hole that we can go inside and directly influence their actions. While a sim is “on the clock”, they could even pop to the nearest diner to get some lunch without their work performance being penalised. In certain cases, they can even make their own meals inside their workplace.
The Sims 3 Ambitions – Realistic goals or implausible dreams?
TouchArcade – previews of Simcity Deluxe and Sims 3 Ambitions for the iPhone/iPad
Jul 21st
SimCity Deluxe – This sequel of sorts is basically little more than a makeover of the original SimCity [$2.99], it’s a little disappointing that EA is releasing this as a separate game instead of applying these fixes to the existing one, but I suppose you could say the same about most EA sequels.SimCity Deluxe is going to have seasons (and disasters to go with each) as well as graphics that look a lot like SimCity 4 for the PC. In the game you will finally be able to modify the terrain with touch controls, which actually was a lot of fun. The new UI is also substantially less clunky, although still suffers a little just because there’s so much you can do in the game and packing all those functions in to a sensible touch-based interface is never going to be easy.
The Sims 3 Ambitions – I’ve never really been one to get sucked in to The Sims, but the sheer popularity of the series is undeniable. The Sims 3 Ambitions, much like SimCity Deluxe takes the same basic formula from The Sims 3 [$6.99] and greatly improves upon it. Unlike The Sims 3 World Adventures [$6.99], EA doesn’t currently have plans to allow you to import your existing sim in to the game which I’m sure some people will be disappointed by. Regardless of that,Ambitions is host to tons of improvements. You can now build rooms of your house just like the computer game, there are kids in game, players have much more control over the speed of time, and the city area is much denser with many more career paths and activities for your sims. For me, my favorite part of Sims games was always building my house, so I was very excited to see they finally added that functionality to the iPhone game and even more so when I saw just how well the touch interface worked for building.

Glad to see The Sims 3 back at top. Now only if High End Loft Stuff can claim top spot on the Budge Price List, all would be good.

SNW – The Sims 3 Ambitions review
Jul 17th
A GIGANTIC review by SimsNetwork
The Sims 3 Ambitions offers a lot of new professions to try out. It just takes a lot of time to play all of them. And I still haven’t finished all of them, can you imagine? The fact that there is so much to do in this game, is definitely a plus. Despite the problems I’ve had with the game, I still love this game. It got me back into the world of Sims 3, because honestly, after World Adventures I had pretty much lost interest in the entire Sims 3 series. I enjoy the game much more now. I know many of our members stopped playing The Sims 3 because of the lack of things to do in the game. I can tell you, this expansion pack will make you happy with The Sims 3 again! If you haven’t already, it’s definitely time to buy The Sims 3 Ambitions!
Carl’s Guide to The Sims 3 Ambitions
Jul 12th
Carl’s Sim 3 Guides is perhaps one of the biggest, in-depth guide to the games from The Sims 3 series. Ever since Ambitions released, they’ve been hard at work creating a walkthrough guide for the expansion. If you’re not familiar with the site, I encourage you to check them out – they cover objectives like inventing, sculpting, baking, the various professions and even how to get a SimBot! Make sure you check out the rest of the site and bookmark it – you’ll never know when you may need it!

EA is all over the place…They would of dominated the top 5 slots if ‘Sniper: Ghost Warrior‘ didn’t steal the show. Wish I could say the same about the Budget Priced games (in which TS3: High End Loft Stuff took #3)
