(PC) World Adventures
Early Pics of France/Champ Les Sims
Oct 24th
SimGuruGraham has shared some insight about the first version of Champ Les Sims along with two early screen shots.
Ever wondered why the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe were in World Adventures but didn’t actually appear in France? Take a rare peek at pictures of an early France prototype… We eventually decided having these huge landmarks in a town felt awkward, so we made Champs Les Sims a countryside village on the outskirts of Paris.
Anthony Ashton – Concept art for Sims Ambitions & World Adventures
Mar 8th
Not much is to be seen on the portfolio of Anthony Ashton, modeler and concept artist for EA. He has shared a couple of images of the Great Wall of China in which he modeled and textured (from World Adventures) as well as a bridge in Ambitions. Of course, he may have worked on more items, but these are the ones he decided to share. Once again, thanks goes to SimCookie for posting this.
“Champ les Sims” as Base World
Oct 13th
Stw402 at the official site created a base world version of Champ les Sims from World Adventures. It’s called Champ Les Sims Deluxe. This is something that I’ve been waiting for since I first played WA. I’m not sure if you need WA since it doesn’t seem to say. I would assume so for the special patterns and nectar-making skill, etc. It’s been revised to add all of the rabbit holes, so it may look slightly different. But overall, it looks pretty much like the destination world. You can download it here: http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=3218005#

UK: Top 20 PC Games Chart ending August 21, 2010
Aug 23rd

Sorry about missing last week’s chart! As you can see above, The Sims 3 is still holding on strong (as well as The Sims 2) . On the budget price list, we have The Sims 3 High-End Loft Stuff coming in at #2.

Of course, Starcraft II is #1 again, and more than likely will be for a long time to come, but at least The Sims series is holding strong and will end up reclaiming their top spot.

Without a doubt to anybody’s surprise, Starcraft II took the #1 spot, bumping down several games – including all those in The Sims franchise. Oh, as for The Sims 3 High End Loft Stuff, it’s #3 in the Budget Price Listing.

The Sims 3 Patch update 1.14/2.9/3.5/4.2
Jul 30th
updated to include patch links for PC and Mac – thanks to everyone who contributed the links – they will eventually be added to the patches page in the near future!
This is becoming tedious with all of the patches for the different version of games :/ But I do appreciate the bug fixes – especially now that Create-A-World was fixed (I give credit to Frankie’s good luck)! As always, be sure to backup your game data and possibly gather your games in case the patch boogers up and you have to reinstall. In fact, you may want to keep an eye over at the official Sims 3 forums to see what other’s reactions are before you proceed.
Anyhow, the list of bug fixes – shoutout to SimGalorie for the tip! Oh, and always if anyone can gather the links for me I’ll add them to this post (cannot find them at work):
Before installing this game update, you must check for corrupt content that may be slowing down your game. Follow these steps to remove the content before installing the game update:

- To delete the file: 0x038a68fe04da61a6aa65f939d77fbc37.package, go into your DCBackups (C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCBackup), find the file and delete it.
- If you had that file in your C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCBackup folder, this may have attached itself to your exports. If you had that file and recently exported content to your Launcher, delete that content from your Export folder and your Launcher.

Before installing an Update for The Sims 3, an Expansion Pack, or a Stuff Pack, it is a good idea to run through the following checklist to ensure your game continues to work smoothly.
If you have any questions about the below steps, please visit the Technical Support forum on the official Sims 3 community found at this URL: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/forums/show/10.pageStep 1: Disable Custom Content
Custom Content is all Sims content that did not come from an official The Sims 3 Update, The Sims 3 Store, Expansion Pack, or Stuff Pack. Custom Content is created by 3rd Party Developers that are not regulated by Electronic Arts or The Sims 3 Development Team and may not work with new updates. Custom Content may cause the game to behave unexpectedly or not function entirely.
To disable your custom content, undo whatever you did to install this content to get your game back into an unmodified state. If you placed it in a Sims 3 directory folder, move it to a new folder that is outside your Sims 3 file directory. Your Sims 3 file directory can be found using the paths listed below:
Windows File Directory: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
Mac File Directory: User/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims/
Once you have installed the official update you may re-enable your custom content. If you experience problems, disable it again until the 3rd party developer updates their content to work with the official Update, Expansion Pack, or Stuff Pack.
Step 2: Back Up your Save Files
It’s always a good precaution to back up your save files before installing an Expansion Pack, Update, or Stuff Pack. To do this, copy the “.sims3” folders found in the Saves folder onto your desktop or another file directory.
Your Sims 3 Saves folder can be found using the paths listed below:
Windows File Directory: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves
Mac File Directory: User/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims/Saves
After the Update is installed, run the game to verify your saves still function correctly.
Step 3: Let the Update Complete Entirely
Updates can sometimes be rather large and may take a while to download and install completely. Cancelling the update before it has completed may cause unexpected problems, so it is always best to let it finish entirely. Do not close the Launcher until you have confirmed the update is completely installed, as this will cancel the update.

One of these days we’re going to see all of the top 10 spots full of EA/Maxis games. I’m sure EA would love to see that. Oh, and The Sims 3 High End Loft Stuff is at #4 on the Budget Price list…so that makes 5 of the 10

Glad to see The Sims 3 back at top. Now only if High End Loft Stuff can claim top spot on the Budge Price List, all would be good.

EA is all over the place…They would of dominated the top 5 slots if ‘Sniper: Ghost Warrior‘ didn’t steal the show. Wish I could say the same about the Budget Priced games (in which TS3: High End Loft Stuff took #3)
