Claeric at MTS recently posted a speculation thread about Pets being hinted by EA as the next EP from the holiday Store items. Here is the quoted description:
The Winter holidays are all about family and thinking of others, including our beloved pets. There is no better gift than a Mochi’s Doggie Present for your favorite pooch. This wonderful present is decorated with a lovely bow and a plush “Mochi the Dog” doll embracing the package.
Many comments seem to agree with Claeric and are happy, but it seems as if many more still prefer weather.
So, what do you think? Could this be true, or could it still be a SuperStar remake as hinted in the Brazilian WA fan event, or will it instead be something totally different? I personally think that this is a real hint because of the strong focus on pets when we don’t even have them in our game.

I really would love Superstar, DEFINITELY Magic, seasons if they include a lot of content not just weather, and pets i guess but idk pets is kinda boring.
I don’t dislike Pets but it’s not favorite. I prefer weather as well. But moist of all, I want some sort of nightlife element such as a nightclub, bowling alley, etc. Not a separate EP but I at least want those places because the game is too quiet and dull and I miss a city aspect. However, weather is definitely needed!

I agree. I desperately need an urban area. Not necessarily a slum area, just an actual city life setting. Imagine cars and trucks piling up the streets just for a visual effect and we can have new traits such as city person and one that means that the Sims prefer rural or a quieter area. The rest of Nightlife that has yet to be added can finally be added to this EP plus a bunch of new additions, including the suggestions from some of you. We can also have social classes in this EP as well as mannerisms and social scenes, etc. There is so much that can be added!
Nope. It’ll be a Superstar/Nightlife/HotDate expansion. The latest patch enchanced the rabbitholes, and ‘Vegas’ was included in the title of the latest free downloads.
In my opinion the order will be Superstar, Pets, Seasons, and then something like apartment life, and since magic took a backseat in The Sims 2 I don’t think that it will be a separate expansion but incorporated into one of the other expansion packs as it was in Apartment Life.
We’re hoping for pets, then weather, then somesort of liesure holiday pack, something with funfair amusements, etc.
Meh, Pets have always been my least favorite expansion packs. I find the animals too much of a handful. I’d much rather have weather. Seasons was my favorite expansion pack.
Yay! I knew Pets and animals will be included for next expansion, but not sure which number it will be. It will be different than Sims 2, since animations/interaction will be much different and new.
Hopefully, there will be a variety of animals to own as pets from reptiles to mammals.
Weather will be nice to have in the game, though. I like both of them:)
I love getting pets for Sims, just because my RL family never feels complete without one. I just hope that they include other stuff with pets in the expansion; I loved the additions of pets in Sims 2, but other than getting dogs and cats the expansion itself was otherwise lacking, and I’d hate for that to happen again.
My dream scenario would be that they include pets and weather in one expansion, hopefully expanding on both ideas to make a fuller pack (ie: more varieties of animals and more interactions with them, more types of weather and more effect on the sims and the world from that weather, etc).
