BAT (Building Architect Tool)

The Building Architect Tool is actually a suite of tools. It includes the Building Architect gamepack for gmax™, the Plug-in Manager, and an updated version of the Lot Editor.

The roles of the three separate tools can be summed up as follows: The Building Architect enables you to create models in a 3D environment and export SimCity 4 Deluxe game ready content. The Plug-in Manager enables you to create plug-ins for the game and modify the simulation properties for those plug-ins. It is with this tool that you can define a model as a house, a prop or even (but not limited to) a landmark. The Lot Editor enables you to place your new plug-ins on lots and get them into the game.

This suite of tools acts as a complete pipeline that is based on the same tools Maxis used to create the SimCity 4 games. Each tool is a stand alone application and each can be enjoyed on it’s own merits. If you find that 3D modeling is not your forte perhaps modifying simulation properties and tuning data in the Plug-in Manager better suits you. If creating and arranging lots is your passion, B.A.T. just made that even more fun by enabling an entire community to create custom content for all or your lot creation needs.

And, if you just enjoy playing the game, the amount of custom content that’s out there for you to enjoy is about to explode.

Bat4Max v2.0 has for years been an invaluable tool that enable a lot of creative people to take SC4 to entirely new level graphical excellence. But nothing is perfect and there is always room to improve.

Development of 3D in last few years had been nothing short of revolutionary and unfortunately some of it wasn’t quite compatible with Bat4Max v2.0, there was (as still is) a room for making own tool of choice more effective and user friendly. There has been a lot of confusion with installation procedures and some crucial features were either missing (like preview) or realized in a way leaving a lot to desire from point of view of efficiency or ease of use.
Hence Bat4Max v2.5!

Lot Editor Tool

The lot editor tool gives you access to much of the visual content in SimCity™ 4. It enables you to customize the look of existing lots or create entirely unique lots that can be used in SimCity™ 4 cities.

Because lots contain much of the visual content used in SimCity, the ability to customize them provides a great deal of power in personalizing the look of your city.

Modify ground textures, add props and make all the lots in SimCity uniquely yours. To get started, download the latest version of the lot editor now.

Network Addon Mod (NAM)

The Network Addon Mod (NAM) combines all transportation network-related fixes, additions and new creations that have been released so far. It will add countless new features to the existing network tools, such as new overpasses, highway onramps, intersections, ped-malls, a ground light rail network, roundabouts and turning lanes.

Features:

  • Wide Radius Curves (WRC) have been moved to a separate plugin, new curves and Fractional Angled Roads (FAR) and Railways (FARR) have been added, old wide radius curve preview models and textures have been improved.
  • Flexible Underpass (FLUP) puzzle pieces plugin for roads has been added, featuring modular road underpasses.
  • Tram-in-Road (T-RAM) puzzle pieces plugin has been added, featuring a wide variety of Tram-in-Road puzzle pieces.
  • New GLR-in-Avenue puzzle pieces have been added, i. e. GLR-in-Avenue with grass textures.
  • New GLR-in-Avenue roundabouts (GLR curve, T intersection, + intersection) have been added.
  • New Rail Viaduct puzzle pieces have been added, i. e. new diagonal pieces, diagonal on-slope pieces, and Rail Viaduct on PedMall puzzle pieces.
  • New straight Ground Highway exits have been added.
  • Two new Ground Highway Interchanges (trumpet and partial Y) have been included.
  • A new set of Traffic Plugins has been included.
  • A variety of RUL, texture and pathing errors have been fixed.
  • NAM Controller contains RULs for updated RHW (Rural Highway Mod), SAM (Street Addon Mod), and HSR (High Speed Rail) plugins (released separately).

From our SimCity friends from abroad, comes a program that helps with Transit Enabling Lots. It does not do it for you, but it may help with removing some of the confusion that some people may have about Transit Enabling Lots.

The use of the Reader &/or Datgen is still required and should be used in conjunction with this program.

SC4 Organizer

SC4 Tools is a collection of utilities aimed at the everyday SimCity 4 gamer. These are no ground-breaking mods, nor will they change the game itself. Rather they will help the user staying organized in the vast terrain that is today’s custom content. These utilities provide backups, both in-game and off-line; permit viewing of what the game contains, and help the budding MD/CJ publisher to keep their creations up-to-date. Now also available on the STEX

Included are the following tools:

  • SC4 Shortcut Editor – to deal with the known and lesser known command line switches of SimCity 4 Delux & Rush Hour;
  • MD/CJ Editor – to allow users to create and edit multiple city journals off-line. It features different menus and toolbars depending on the site the CJ is published on (SC4D, ST, TPP), as well as an inline image selector, and several advanced BB code tags.
  • Download & Installation Manager – used to install downloaded custom content, it helps a user track errant plug-ins, among other things.
  • Plug-ins Folder Cleanup – keeps the user’s plug-ins folders clean and lean by moving all non-essential files into auxilliary folders and/or the Read-Me Library.
  • Region & City Viewer – Offline utility to view region or city details, albums, and census data without havbing to start the game.
  • Backup Manager – several SC4 Tools procude backups; the BM will take care of managing these, with full and partial restores, archive relocation and CD burner.

This tool has been developed in order to create some semblance of ease-of-use when it comes to the various tools and necessities of playing SC4, and make the organisation of files and folders easier. Thus some stuff the app does (eventually) maybe highly personal in its usage. The Organizer contains all the separately released SC4 Tools in a single application, plus a number of extra features such as organizing the Read-Me folders & files; managing downloads & installations; and helping with DATPacker™ & Cleantiol™ tools.

The SC4 Organizer runs under XP-SP2 and Vista; Mac support is not available unless someone else is willing to port it to the Mac – a doubtful proposition. Languages other than English (German, Dutch, French) are possible, but only if there is sufficient demand for any of these languages.

SC4 Startup Manager

SimCity4 Startup Manager is a small tool that can associate certain plugin folders with a region. With one click the region with the appropriate plugins can be loaded in SimCity 4. Intricately moving or renaming of the plugins folders “by hand” is no longer necessary.

SC4TF is revolutionary standalone application that allows you to create and edit Sim City 4 Regions. No more open, terraform, save, open, reconcile, terraform, save, etc. You can choose to create a region from scratch and hand terraform it or you can open an exsisting region from your regions folder and make changes to it as you please.

All the hand terraforming tools from SC4 are now available for your use on an entire region. Other tools have been added to help your hand terraforming become an easier job.

The most exciting part about this program is the fact that you can share your regions on STEX and not have to worry about the image losing precision on your region. SC4TF saves your region in a propriatary file called .SC4M that saves the data from your region to a precision of 0.1m in elevation. With a regular image you only have a precision of 2.4m. That just wasnt good enough for us!

Another amazing advantage to this tool is instead of using CTL+ALT+SHIFT+R and waiting 30 mins, an hour or even more for a region to load it is a two click step. File – Save in SC4TF. Then all you have to do is enter your region, it will appear in SC4 as it looked in SC4TF but that is only until you enter and save each city. This feature allows you to start building your city and save each tile as you go along instead of waiting the whole time at the begining.

If you have already started a building a city and your already upto 100,000 people and you didnt like the mountain range in the corner. You could easily terraformer in that city tile on SC4TF and not destroy your city, as long as you dont terraform over top of anything it will be fine. Or if you dont like a certain group of city tiles but there is one in the middle you like, there is a locking feature that allows you to terraform in all tiles around and not disturb the one you like.

This program is entirely 3-D and allows you to move around and view your region from any angle imaginable. You can take pictures from a bird’s eye view or at eye level.
